Private Club , not crowded, good food Bathroom in room was very small and needs updating.

check in/out fine. Good selection of food at buffet. Staff was very friendly. Good drinks at pool bar. Italian cuisine was pretty good, as was wine selection. Pool was clean and orderly. found seafood restaurant lacking (e.g. only ONE fish on the menu!). Had hard time fitting into bathroom. Bathtub was a SAFETY HAZARD!! (slippery) which should have been corrected. Water was shut off multiple times without notice!!

Access to the beach was far from convenient—we had to navigate steep, awkward paths down and back up. With just a little effort, it could have been made much more user-friendly.

Before we came here we stayed for 6 days at Dream Flora resort in Punta Cana 5 star hotel, then we moved here for 4 days since the place looked great on pictures they had at Booking.com , plus the price was a lot more affordable.. The food is not as good as at 5 star resort we stayed in before we moved here, and some facilities are little bit more worn down, but other than that this place is awesome. It is very relaxing, you pretty much right on the beach , great view from balcony.. Great friendly staff and very cozy place just to kick back and relax.. My family loved VIK Hotel a lot more than the 5 star hotel we stayed before we came here, it felt like home...

Terrific staff: All were friendly, responsive, helpful, and polite. The front desk team had accommodated our request for adjacent rooms before we arrived. When an AC problem occurred in my room, they quickly arranged an alternate set of accommodations that kept us together and moved all our stuff, then followed up to make sure we were comfortable. Rooms are spacious, with two balconies that are perfect for reading in the shade or gazing at the sea. Breakfast in El Cano always included local specialties like mangu and taro root and the custom omelets and other egg dishes available on request were consistently excellent, as was the food and drink service. The El Cano coffee/drinks bar was a frequent hangout for us, for morning coffee, afternoon cappucino and sundowners, always with a great view of the sea. Bartenders were responsive to requests for tweaks, like more lime. Several stand-out food items: Fresh lobster at La Trattoria one evening was the best dish of our stay, at a modest added cost, and the osso buco at La Trattoria also was delicious. Excellent roast pork at the buffet. All the vegetable soups and the hard rolls available daily at lunch and dinner at the buffet were dependably good. Wonderful papaya was available at almost all meals. The food options tended to high carbs and deep-fried preparations. The salad bar at La Trattoria was limited and not very interesting. After a week of eating within the resort complex only, we got a little tired of the food. The disco/night club goes strong every night, so it can be a little noisy for rooms at that end of the hotel.

Excellent Wifi everywhere
-
Quiet relaxing. Poor WiFi service. Room phone broke and bath tube leaks water onto the floor.

Perfect location.

Attentive and friendly staff Just steps away from the ocean Laid back, relaxing vibe. It’s quiet here. A hot tub at the pool would have been nice but I’m not complaining. We really enjoyed our stay here, it was just what I was looking for.

Food was not good

We ended up in the Cayena Beach Club (an exclusive area of the resort). The staff in that area were quite good. The restaurant in this area was available for breakfast and lunch. The food was good. Dinner options are the same for the entire resort - buffet or ala carte. The Reception team in the Beach Club was excellent. Although a bit worn and needing an upgrade, it appears to be one of the few resorts within about 50 feet of the ocean. Other resorts are set back much further and don't seem to have the excellent view with which we ended up. The first room we were given (that was supposed to be oceanview and balcony) was on the first floor looking at a chain linked fence and a bush. When the door wouldn't close, we were given a lovely 2nd floor oceanfront room. Apparently, all rooms in the Cayena Beach Club are rated the same so no guarantee on the view. In its heyday, this was likely the gem on the coast. There are upgrades and maintenance needed including staving off erosion at beach side.

Clean, right on the beach, food and the workers Nothing bad at all

In overall an exeptional time there. Some employees at the front desk were working very very slowly. Bathroom in our room was very dark + bathtub would need an update - it was cracked.

Not a lot of food options after 10pm
