The staff was really nice and really accommodating. I have a lot of sympathy for them keeping the place afloat with minimal resources. No one speaks English (as per usual in Brazil) which was occasionally a barrier to understanding how to fulfill our needs. But let's be honest, they should not be expected to speak my language in their country. It is just barely bare bones. e.g. We spilled food on the fitted sheet (yes, food), and we had to sleep on top of a collection of bedsheets because they had no more fitted sheets to spare. Speaking of sheets: this is probably a culture/weather thing, but all they gave us was a bedsheet to sleep under. No comforter. After a couple nights I realized I could ask for a comforter and I got one. I recommend doing this. Sure, if you're sleeping in the heat, you don't want it. But it's an air-conditioned room. You probably want the comforter.

The staff is very professional. The location is good. You pay a 1 star hotel but you get more. There is only one hairdryer for the entire hotel.

Small room, I have enjoyed other hotels in Flamengo in the past, but these have closed...will not stay at Unico again

Breakfast OK for the price I paid. I was looking for a budget hotel near the facilities I needed. I liked the area. For the price I paid I could not expect anything better. It was a modest hotel for those with a limited budget.

Good variety of fruits, bread and juices at the breakfast. WiFi signal was oscillating at my room.

Breakfast, location, proximity to metro, food, aterro... great. 24/7 reception is available. Staff is great. Room could be larger. Only window towards parking lot, must be kept closed, no natural light or ventilation.
