The Originals City, Hôtel Notre Dame, Rouen

Location was great for the city centre and cathedral but very noisy at night. There was no air conditioning. A street fight broke out at around 3.30am right outside our window and woke us up. It lasted ages and we couldn't get back to sleep. The windows were open because it was so hot so we heard lots of screaming and shouting which was frightening for our children.

Close to the cathedral. Bed was good The staircase (no lift provided) was very dirty. The place was incredibly warm, absolutely no air in the corridors, just one side of the window could be open on the bedroom. A hotel without love.

Centrally located and affordable Wouldn’t recommend. No security or staff or site after 10pm - it did not feel very safe. There was no air conditioning so the room was very stuffy. The ‘window’ was actually a door to a shared terrace

Great location, very central, close to the Cathedral and only about 20 min walk from the train station. The room was comfortable, with a good shower, a hairdryer, a kettle and enough sockets to charge devices. Decent breakfast with enough choice of sweet and savoury food. No air conditioning so not recommended during hot weather or if you are a sensitive sleeper. There’s a fan but it only helps up to a point. We slept with open windows, but there was a small square nearby where some youngsters were hanging out literally all night long, with loud chats and music. Not sure if we were just unlucky or it's a trend.

The staff here were exceptionally pleasant and helpful. Very close to the cathedral and to public transport. It was all fine. The stairs are hard work but this was expected. In the extremely hot weather air conditioning would have been appreciated, but the hotel did its best with fans etc, and we managed OK.

The location is excellent, as is the staff! Spotless! Incredible value!

Breakfast was quite good. Very basic facilities any the shower tray didn't drain and there was no shower jel. No good if you have problems with stairs.

The location was ideal for exploring in the oldest part of the city. The staff also were friendly and helpful. The room was snug but ok. The shower wasn’t especially good and the breakfast room was cramped and the breakfast was not well presented. We only had breakfast in the hotel once and went out to eat after that.

The staff were kind and helpful. I walk with difficulty and they took my luggage to my room and generally helped me. My problem is new and I booked well ahead and didn’t realise there is no lift. They suggested I should have asked for a lower floor room so if you have trouble with stairs tell them in advance. No lift.

Room was clean and warm, staff were lovely It appears a bit tatty - but is very clean
