Golden Tulip Saint Malo - Le Grand Bé

We received an upgraded room with a lovely balcony area that was so cozy and relaxing. We would have liked to stay an extra day we liked room so much.

We loved that it was within the walled city of San Malo. The location was great. Lots of action and when he walked outside the hotel there were plenty of nearby restaurants and shops. The staff were friendly and helpful. There is a nice bar and lounge area. There were two things I didn’t like. There was a strong scent used in the elevator that set off our allergies. It was like a strong, overwhelming men’s cologne. But the biggest thing I didn’t like is the frosted glass doors in the bathroom and shower. I don’t understand the European ways of using glass sliding doors to a toilet. No one wants to watch somebody else going to the bathroom. Also be prepared if you have a car that it’s tight getting around within the walled city and parking can be difficult to find although we found a parking spot both days.

Great location in city center and near wall. The walk from bus stop was fairly easy. Clean, modern.

Modern, comfortable, clean, staff really helpful with our struggles with the parking, very good breakfast. Good location. We had to drive through horrendous pedestrian traffic to get to the underground parking. We did not realise how deep into the historic walled city it was.

Great location next to the best beaches and in the heart of the walled city. Clean and modern. Good value. A little on the generic side of modern. Somewhat lacking in soul in design and amenities. Breakfast could be improved with more protein options and fresh egg station. Service is well meaning but a little under staffed. Understandable it is a seasonal hotel.

The receptionist upon arrival went above and beyond expectations by helping us with the parking kiosk. Location was wonderful for exploring the walled city. Nothing to report.

The location and amenities were perfect. The room was spacious, and the separate room was a great work location. The balcony was also excellent.

Nice location. Room size was acceptable, not great, but acceptable. Not 4 star quality. Tatty cheap decor and the quality of the finish in the room was bad to say it was completely in 2024. The sink had multiple chips in it that are waiting for someone to slice their finger open on. The head board unit has clear water damage, bulged and laminate coming off. I'm not a qualified tiler but having done my own house I'm sure I could do better than that bathroom. A very choice, and I would say safety issues, of putting a step in the middle of the room right next to a glass shower room door.. dangerous. The glass bathroom door, you can literally see past it all around... It is a bathroom.. that won't stop sounds or smells. If one person is sat on the toilet, and the door open, you can have a face to face conversation with the person sat on the bed... Odd.. Just very poorly thought out and executive all round..I wouldn't stay there again.

Our room was outstanding! We had a beautiful view over the park where you could see children playing, you could hear the church bells ringing and people walking through the park. :-) J'aime ca. ;-) <3 We took a convenient ferry over to Dinard, spent the day there and their beaches are equally as beautiful. Directions to the parking garage would have been appreciated before we lugged our luggage up those cobblestone hills and steps. Otherwise, once we parked it was great. ;-)
