Boutiquehotel Amadeus

The hotel is perfectly positioned to explore Salzburg. You walk down a picturesque street and over the bridge to reach the old town (and for us the Opera Festival). We went in the middle of the heatwave and the rooms had no air-conditioning but it was not too hot, and fans were provided for each room. The hotel has a number of communal areas overlooking a beautiful cemetery - the one were Paracelsus is buried. Make sure you go for a walk on a good day. No parking at the hotel, but they direct you to a nearby public car park that was very convenient (however make sure to download the app before going there - the hotel did not tell us about the app but it gives you a big discount) My main bugbear with this room was that we asked for the two bedroom apartment, but the design means you have to walk through the one bedroom to reach the other one. This wasn't great for the person with that room. Also there was no lock on the bathroom door, even though it had doors to both bedrooms. Pretty basic stuff. The hotel staff were a bit 'German' - by which I mean a bit short/blunt/lacking the soft touch one might expect when being welcomed. Prices were jacked up due to the Opera Festival and the UEFA Super Cup unfortunately. Could have done with free water being provided in the rooms, and a fridge.

Location was good. Cost was far too much for what you got.

The lobby, the location. There was a terrible smell in the bathroom (perhaps Cockroach insecticide). I could hardly stay there. It was hot. When leaving the windows open, I could hear trucks early in the morning as well as bell rings. The room was small.

Central location. Because of the heat wave, it was very thoughtful of them to keep a floor fan. The decor and the rustic finish. Amazing staff. None

I liked the location and staff. The cost for 2 nights was expensive. The breakfast was very minimal.

Good location In summer can choose between (I) loud noises from the bar that’s open to midnight across the street to garbage trucks at 0500 in the morning, or (II) 30! degrees Celsius in the room. Unbearable. What they called breakfast was a joke.

We loved the location. It was situated perfectly and allowed us to walk everywhere. The rooms were comfortable and it was a great place to spend a day and an evening for a family of 4. There was no air conditioning but there were plenty of fans available which made it very nice. The windows all opened as well, which was an added bonus for air flow. The shower was a little small.

Beds comfortable, clean. Location was great right on a walking street which led everywhere we needed. Coffee and water access nice. 2nd room was tight squeeze, step to bathroom a bit dangerous, church bells frequent. Nicer if the breakfast was included .

Breakfast was not included and limited in scope. given the facilities basic breakfast should be included in the tariff to make it a compelling value. There was not soap/shampoo in our bathroom, the containers were empty and there was no one to assist till the next afternoon. This in my opinion was a big miss considering the room charges of a luxury boutique hotel. No one apologized or offer a compensating credit/gesture. Breakfast was not included and limited in scope. given the facilities and location it wasn't a problem to find places to eat outside, however basic breakfast should be included in the tariff to make it a compelling value and add convenience.

The second day of my stay at the Amadeus Hotel was a total different experience compared to my first day at check-in. It was lovely. Even wonderful. The gentleman working the front desk greeted me with a big, warm 'Good Morning' smile as I got off the elevator. He asked me if I slept well. Whether my bed and room were comfortable. And was there anything he could do to make my stay better. He saw the walking cane in my hand. And acknowledged my disability. He offered to help me with anything I needed. Escorted me to the next room where coffee, juice and lite fare were waiting. Without me asking, he generously told me about the area. It's history. If I wanted to walk, he showed me where the nearest and better stores and pharmacy were to buy what I might need. Told me who had the best food on the block. When I told him the sites I planned to see, he gave me great suggestions. He kindly interrupted himself from another guest to find me a taxi. Even though I told him I could wait. My new friend was kind. Caring. Helpful. And had a great sense of humor. I thank him for going above and beyond usual hospitality. The first day I arrived to the hotel for check-in, the female employee at the front desk did not greet me nor acknowledge my standing directly in front of her. I greeted her, told her who I was, that I had a reservation for 2 nights and how happy I was to finally be in beautiful Salzburg. Without looking at me, she told me I had to wait 3 to 4 hrs. for my room. I informed her I received confirmed approval for early check-in from the Amadeus Hotel due to my train schedule and me being Disabled. (Btw, I ended up arriving only 1(one) hour prior to the posted check-in time). I shouldn't have to wait so long. When she finally looked up at me, she curtly told me "NO." I asked her to please check my reservation for the approval letter/email. She actually scowled at me, folded her arms, turned her back to me and waited... before going to the computer. She quickly glanced at it, and loudly said, "There is no such thing." She was obviously aggravated with me. I attempted to show her my phone for the approval email from the Amadeus Hotel. She told me not to bother and refused to look at it. She said, "Anyway, your room has not been vacated. And will still need to be cleaned." I asked if she would call the room to remind them of the time. She refused. And, I kid you not, she glared at me and said, "That would be most rude." With a stern tone, insisted me to sit down and wait. It was already far past the posted check-out time. As I was leaning on my walking cane, I explained to her I was exhausted from the long trip. Thirsty. Hungry. And in a lot of pain because of my disability. I asked if there was anything she or anyone else working there could do to help me. Or if there was another room available to temporarily lay down and rest until the room I paid was available. She said she was very busy with people checking out. And there was no one else to assist me. Readers, there was NO ONE in sight the entire time I waited.

Good location. Comfortable bed and room. Very clean. When I checked on at 1750, the man was clearly upset that I hadn't come earlier as reception closed daily at 1800. I was asked why I didn't check in earlier since he was leaving at 1800. I also found a letter in my room stating that I had checked in after reception closed and I would have to formally check in with reception the next day. I was also notified that the coffee machine was not working so there would not be any coffee available during my stay. The bells from the church next door are very loud and ring all day long. The street noise carries through the rooms on the hotel and lasts until after midnight making it difficult to get a good night's rest. For the price, this hotel did not meet my expectations and I was very disappointed in the value.

Location, cleanliness, ease of entry Breakfast should start earlier. If one needs to leave for the airport before 8, no breakfast and no coffee. Coffee machine not set up before 8.
