These were not minor or isolated inconveniences. Basic expectations of a hotel stay—clean bedding, a comfortably air-conditioned room, reliable hot water, and properly maintained bedding—were repeatedly not met. This was particularly disappointing given the cost of the stay and approximately $70/night parking. I have contacted hotel management separately with the complete details and requested appropriate compensation. I hope management reviews the circumstances of our stay and provides a meaningful resolution.

Got charged an Additional $45 for an overnight fee? That was not stated before booking, was then mentioned upon arrival.

Always a great stay at the Alma!

Great place to stay in San Diego
-
Valet parking was too much and the one valet was overwhelmed at checkout. Took over 20 minutes to get car.

The room was amazing, one of the nicest hotel rooms I’ve stayed in. Please just change the shower heads, the one in my room wasn’t working properly and I when I called the front desk they said there was nothing they could do. Overall amazing stay, I booked the corner room with the city view. Absolutely stunning sunset!

Everything was fabulous, we will return!

Great stay! Came with my 6 month old and they were helpful

Besides the staff being fantastic, this will be my first and last time staying at the Alma. This is just another “boutique hotel” pretending to be something it’s not in the bad side of town, looking to separate customers from their money as quickly as possible. Be prepared to pay a $35 per day, “destination” fee, whatever that is. Oh and $70 a day to park your car. This is absolutely ridiculous. There’s nothing boutique or special about this place. It’s an old hotel with an air-conditioning that barely works and homeless and human waste all over the place right next to the light rail tracks with trolly cars that blast a super loud and obnoxious horn all morning and day until midnight that you can hear right through the closed windows. Budget in an extra $105 per night minimum in addition to what you paid for nightly. The staff were excellent, they are the best and only good part of this hotel.
-
One thing to note: the pool is very nice but on the small side, get down there early to grab a spot if planning on a pool day.
-
I would suggest getting the valet if you have a lot of places you need to drive to and from. I would also suggest that if you don’t then use the garage across the street and use the rails and trolleys.

It was my first time at this hotel and it was honestly a great experience. The hotel smelled great as soon as you entered and the room had no carpet and instead nice tile flooring. Would definitely come again.
-
Loved the room with the small balcony. Spacious, well decorated. Loved that the TV connected to phone via bluetooth for music. AC was not quite working fully. Never quite got as cool as thermostat setting. Food at the restaurant was okay, not great.

Perfect

Our interaction with Sean truly exceeded our expectations. Not only did he treat us with the upmost respect, he went above and beyond with helping my boyfriend and I during our stay by the pool area. Thank you Sean!
-
Centrally located for convenience enjoyed perk of late checkout however when i returned to the room the key needed to be reset and the beverages left in the refrigerator were cleared out Needed front desk to track down over zealous housekeeping to recover unopened Champagne left in room.

Exceptional

I have no complaints about the hotel but just cannot give more stars due to the location of the property. I wanted to grab something from CVS right next door and had to turn around and walk right back as the amount of homeless people and drug addicts in the middle of the day accompanied with the dirtiness and the smell…gosh…very unfortunate.

I will be staying here again! I’m a little bit of a hotel snob, but I have absolutely nothing negative to say. The customer service was excellent. The location was excellent. The rooms in the hotel were clean and aesthetically beautiful. I can’t wait to go back.
