Granger Hotel Gaslamp Quarter, A Member Of Design Hotels

Rooms are small but nice & clean. The only problem is the walls between rooms are not well insulated. I coukd hear everything on either side of our room and from the hallway. Staff was very nice & accommodating. There is a coffee bar and a bottle room. There are community amenities on each floor in the elevator lobby.

The amenities were great with access to water, ice, tea, coffee and snacks. We loved the decor and history. The spacious feel of the room and hallways. The staff was exceptional in friendliness and service.

We didn't utilize breakfast, coffee bar or bar as we were busy visiting several areas on this short trip.

Our recent stay was satisfactory, though our time at the hotel was brief. We noted that online reviews mentioned a welcome drink upon arrival and complimentary buffet breakfast. These amenities were not offered during our check-in. When we inquired, we were asked about the source of this information, to which we cited online resources. We observed a bar located behind the check-in counter. The staff member also informed us that complimentary breakfast is provided to guests who book directly with the hotel, which we found noteworthy.

Beautiful hotel

The staff consistently went above and beyond. For example, my wife called the front desk from the grocery store, and they went and checked that a can opener would be available. Fantastic! Everyone was kind and courteous, including the cleaning staff. The scent of the hotel was fragrant and gave the space an extra layer of character. The decor and art were distinctive. Each item felt curated for our comfort and delight. The room had style and my social media friends all loved the pictures I posted. The breakfast was hearty and the number of food selections was good. While being a bit pricey, the fresh berries and many other items made up for the (powdered?) eggs. The hotel is 2-3 blocks past common tourist territory as it is on 5th and Broadway, but the area was safe and it was very much in a hotel zone. Its close proximity to a good taco spot was a plus. While there was not a gym on premises, their free access to a gym 3 blocks away worked out fine for me. Finally, I chose The Granger in part so that my wife, who usually dislikes hotels, would feel a sense of welcoming and warmth, which she did. She says it's her favorite hotel now, so I earned bonus points with her!

Other than that, we had a great experience. Maurizio was lovely when he checked us in at the beginning of our stay, and checkout was super easy as well. We parked one block away and paid $50 to leave our car overnight, with in-and-out privileges. Overall, a really cool hotel with a fantastic location.
