I wish i can give it a better rating since the rooms are very cozy, have full mini bar, snacks and espresso machine. The decor and ambiance were a plus. The unfortunate negatives were that there was only one elevator working at the time ( mind you, the elevator is from 1913, VERY small and quite a hassle to open and close the door. Also, the toilet handle broke an hour into our stay, but being that we were late to the ball game and the hotel was at capacity we just worked around it (took the lid off and stuck our hands in the water tank to pull the chain anytime we needed to flush :(

The place is super cute . They have one working elevator right now which at check in is a pain in the butt . Otherwise everything was nice the staff was friendly

Elevator: one of two out of service; charming idea but slow, difficult and dangerous. No way my 85-year old mother could go up/down independently! No ice or half&half? Really? For over $300 a night? Nonsense! Valet: good. Fridge full of over-priced drinks and NO ROOM FOR LEFTOVERS: ridiculous!

Room wasn’t ready at 3

This was very charming hotel. Glamorous and old world charm!! The room was small, but thoughtful! It had everything you needed. The rooftop bar was unbeatable! Gorgeous view!! Great vibe! I will be back!

I loved this hotel! Stayed here for sadly only one night. It’s so aesthetic the room was cute and clean. The staff was so friendly especially Maclain who was working the rooftop bar (it’s lovely!!). He made my experience so memorable he was the best! Close to little Italy and the airport.

Very great experience, went down for NASCAR at Coronado at spent 3 nights, great experience, and beautiful property and city.

My AC didn't seem to function during my stay, however, it was still cool in my room. I didn't tell the front desk since I was still comfortable in my room. Overall stay was great! Went solo and there was plenty of space to get ready and unwind. Plus staff was helpful whenever I came across them when I was using the elevator since my hands were full. Saint James hit the spot for breakfast! Fridge was full of options and plenty of snacks to choose from too. Definitely would come back to stay for my next visit!

It was good

very small rooms, slow elevator/only 1 working

I really like the location of this property. The rooms a bit small. The elevator takes forever (I know the history of the elevator) I think they should update the gates on the elevator as they are a bit dated and dangerous people were complaining about getting their fingers smashed. Other than those things the place is cute and vintage and staff was friendly and attentive to our needs.

Really cool place! Nice vibe. I’d return.

Nice hotel, great location. Everyone was friendly. Housekeeping forgot our room, but we were able call the front desk for clean towels, and to empty the small garbage. The only downside is the elevator. Only one working, and it is over 100 years old, and has a door, and gate that you have to hold open to get on and off. Very difficult to navigate if you have your hands full. Rooftop is a beautiful place to get photos and relax with a drink. We didn’t eat at the St James so can’t comment. We used the Valet and had no issues. Our room was small but very nice. I would have liked the mini fridge empty so we could have used that, and have another garbage by the vanity. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend.

Such a cute small and gorgeous hotel. It was walking distance to Petco Park and Gaslamp District.

Beautifully appointed hotel. Charming + Cozy. Don’t miss the rooftop bar! Restaurant attached to the lobby was excellent.

Clean room and mice staff

Great front desk staff, but the elevators were really old-skool - you had to open a swinging door and then old open a spring loaded gate to get inside. The room itself was clean but it was old and in need of rennovation. The management did put effort into making the room feel welcoming. I particularly appreciated the dyptique bath products and the high-end toiletry kits.

Nice rooms. The AC is a bit too loud
