HI San Francisco Downtown Hostel

The facilities were exactly as described in the photos. I would start there again.

Good facilities. The was a sock down the side of my bed when i arrived. And the location was close to the tenderlion. Maybe a heads up would be nice for those clearly not from the area that that area is to be avoided if alone or out late. Also On the website it said there was free breakfast but apparently that is only at other Hi USA locations.

This hostel is located in a decent location a few blocks away from good restaurants. At $40 a night for a bed, it’s a little pricey as hostels in the western world go, but in line with hostel prices in America. The bedroom facilities in this hostel are excellent. Each bunk bed has a curtain for privacy, though the top bunks don’t have curtains that go all the way to the ceiling, so if someone turns on the room light, the top bunks will get full light. The outlets in the beds all work, and each bed has a nice shelf to store things on. There are not very many toilets on each floor given the number of people who are staying on each floor. Fortunately, this wasn’t a problem while I stayed there because I arrived and left at very strange hours. However, I could see this being a problem for people staying longer who keep a more normal schedule. The sink which fills the toilet tank with water is a nice sustainability touch however, some of the lids didn’t fit on top of the tanks.

Great place and the localisation was awesome, the room was great too!! Just one thing missed, on the top beds, something for covering the light or something

It was perfect and me and my friends loved it The door of the room had like a space at the top so if you are sleeping at the top bed you can hear the noise on the hallway and the light of the hallways is on your face while you’re trying to sleep

Staff were very helpful and professional when dealing with an altercation. Bed was comfortable, with plenty of pillow options. Walking distance to multiple transit options. large gap under the door eliminated any chance at having a quiet room. The scaffolding on the exterior of the building prevented me from feeling comfortable with the windows open overnight. No separate temperature control in the room. The shower heads have a light on the inside that tells you how much water you have used, but I wonder what other electrical components, or cameras, may be inside.

The hostel vibes were great! I felt it was quite a cozy place. Also, plenty of showers and restrooms.
