Hampton Inn & Suites San Marcos

Upon arrival there was no one at the desk. We waited a few minutes, and 2 people came out the back. I asked if we could check in early (it was 1pm) and they told me no, that my room would not be ready until 3pm. I called back at 3:30pm and the room was still not ready. We finally arrived at the hotel around 4:30-5pm and the room was ready. We were tired and hungry and just wanted to take a shower and go get a bite to eat. All the bottles in the shower were empty. No one had bothered to check as they cleaned the room. The only bottle that was halfway full was the hand soap. Luckily, I had brought items from home, and so we had our own body wash and shampoo. I never called downstairs to ask, because the 2 working the front desk that day 8/15 didn't seem like they wanted to be bothered.

This was the nicest hotel. I’ve stayed in in San Marcos. I would definitely stay there again.

The front desk staff was nice and accommodating, the only reason why I rated low is because there were bed bugs found. Not sure who is responsible for keeping an eye out for them but I absolutely could NOT stay here.

Tasty breakfast. However, guests had trashed the serving area and it had not been cleaned up.

Overall good experience. The staff was helpful and welcoming Our second room was ready only by 3:30pm inspite of confirming an early check in at 2pm with the hotel.

I loved how close it was to everything we had planned for the weekend. The room was clean and the staff was very nice and accommodating. I needed extra towels and the girl at the front personally brought them up to us. The beds were comfortable and the A/C worked very well. There was also a good variety for breakfast. The room smelt weird when we first got in there but it was clean so I think it may have been a musty smell from whoever was in there before us because it did eventually go away.

Emily, the receptionist gave me bug spray and was remorseful. She attempted to contact leadership but no one was available. I understand that you can’t control break ins and theft. However, you have to keep the maintenance up on your parking lot and landscaping. This will help avoid infestation on the property grounds. My daughter has asthma and the bug spray gave her breathing problems. We also left 2 hours later than scheduled. I called corporate but Hilton said because I booked with Expedia they could do nothing. They suggested I contact property management but no one was available.
