Howard Johnson by Wyndham San Marcos

I didn’t realize they were external rooms. I thought they would be hall entry but it was ok. Front desk was friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and fairly updated. Overall good experience.

El desayuno muy simple. Ponen poco y si se acaba, de malas. Ni huevos ni yogurth, como en otro hoteles. Lo que mas me molestó fue que el primer dia habian dos bananos pichos. Es mejor que no pongan fruta si la que van a poner esta dañada.

All in all, it is a convenient place to stay short term and when on a budget, the people who work there are friendly, but if you're looking for squeaky clean and friendly looking neighbors, I'd suggest you keep scrolling and then come back to this one.

Good

The rooms are clean, the bathroom the wash area. The flooring and sleep area, not to my standards. But you get what you pay for. The staff are very kind helpful and polite. The continental breakfast was perfect. Air conditioning is good. Overall you get what you pay for. Would I stay again, of course.

If you are looking for a room on a budget, this is the place for you. Nice property owners, clean beds, bathrooms, and floors. It takes the ac a bit to catch up so get there at check in and turn it on. If you are looking for breakfast, this is not the place for you. This place has bagles, toast, oatmeal, bananas, and cereal.

The location was great, everywhere we needed to go was nearby. The beds were comfy. The property could use a little update & the towels were a bit worn out & should be replaced.

The hotel room smelled like pot and cigarettes. We stayed for 4 nights and housekeeping never came and cleaned or changed the trash. Also there was no coffee pot in the room.

Not the best place to stay at. This was a last minute booking and the pictures seemed decent. The whole place didn't feel safe, the bed was old and the backboard was coming apart. The comforter had stains, towels also had odd stains on them and the room smelled like skunk! The front office staff is hardly there, I waited for my receipt and no one came to attend me. Now, I am dealing with them about the deposit. I have yet heard back from them via messages and I have called but I either get hung up on or get transferred to the operator, which the auto-message is on constant repeat and doesn't direct your call. Horrible place.

Booked this room through Expedia, around a month before the trip as it was “reserve now pay later” on the day of check in while I’m making my 4 hour drive I get a notification my room has been cancelled. I called and they LIED saying my card had declined, but they had never tried to charge it, then proceeded to tell me they couldn’t reverse the cancellation all I could do was rebook and a much higher rate than what I originally reserved.

The price They had a basket for you to drop your keys at checkout. She was friendly check in but as friendly when I woke her to checkout.

The pictures online are NOT what the property looks like. I was very shocked when pulling in. Staff was very nice but property is not that nice at all. Sheets had stains and just not a very nice place to stay.

The only good thing about this property was the air conditioner was cold. It was dirty, old, unkept, smelled, tv didn’t work, hair dryer didn’t work, the mattresses were extremely dirty, the door bolt lock was broke. I could say more but you get the point.

I never got my $50 deposit back and I had to leave the room due to bed bugs spiders and cobwebs all over plus dirty dirty mattresses!!
