San Marcos Inn

Whoever is giving this motel excellent reviews is full of crap! We stayed in a 1 queen bed room. I went in quickly after checking in to drop off our bags and left quickly after that not returning until very late in the evening since we had freshmen move in with my daughter at the dorms. Once we entered the room late in the evening, it smelled musty and a strong stench that I couldn’t put my finger on it. After a few seconds or so, my wife said it smelled real strong like cat pee or spray. On top of that, there were baby spider on the bed and walI, as well as the bed sheets were stained. The curtain where the ac was at was very dusty and looked like there was moId on the backside of it. Pillows were also stained.I wasn’t sure we were going to stay at all and decided to ask the front desk if we could get another room after explaining to her about the foul odor and condition. The lady at the front desk acted like she wasn’t aware of it. She stated she couldn’t do anything about it and that they were all booked. The lady was real nice and I get she couldn’t accommodate us, but don’t rent out a room that’s in bad condition. We paid $100 for one night and I probably wouldn’t have paid $25 if I knew the condition of the room. We ended up going to the store and buying Lysol and bed sheets. If we weren’t so tired from the day activities, we would have probably just cut our losses and drove home. I wouldn’t stay here again. I’d be Leary for anyone to stay here either.

Stay was doable. The room was not so clean. Carpet had not been vacuumed. Room was extremely hot. It took most of the night to cool the room.

Last minute trip to San Marcos for the TXST Football game. Limited hotel opportunity for the weekend. Stayed at the San Marcos Inn and was surprised. Room was clean, comfortable and had easy access to the game. Outside appearance not too exciting.

Clean and friendly - price was no frills but very reasonable. I really appreciated the larger fridge and separate freezer space.

Only accessible outlet was at the sink. No place to charge a phone or run a laptop.

Cockroaches at the check-in window and moldy odor in the bedroom. After using the bathroom, I decided to take my family to another hotel down the road. My son laughed and said Dad that’s the most expensive bathroom break you’ve ever taken..
