Mar Monte Hotel, in The Unbound Collection by Hyatt

The Mar Monte Hotel was a lovely place to stay for a girls getaway... it was right across the street from the beach; the restaurants on site were fantastic, we loved the free bikes and beach chairs, and the pool was great. We had a noisy air conditioner the first night and got moved to a new room with a balcony which was lovely. Great stay!

The hotel was across the street from the beach. I t was not far from the interstate. I didn't like that there was construction outside our balcony. I also feel the hotel was dated and could use some updating.

Beach they offer a limited number of chairs and umbrellas to take to beach otherwise it’s $20 per hour for on beach rental - parking isc48 a day there is free parking on the street if you pay attention to the signs . The gym is decent pool over run with kids in August . There is a $35 resort fee per day not mentioned until checkout and breakfast is $25 per day per person .

nice facilities and decoration. gym was good as well. beach is right in front. you can easily walk 30m to center of santa barbara. the rooms did look much better in the pictures and strongly lacked natural light. breakfast included means a credit of 25$ per person which won’t even get you a toast and a coffee as toast is $23 and then you also need to include tax and gratitude tip. it would be also good if the hotel had something at the beach. the pool was terrible.

The hotel was amazing! Staff was friendly and helpful. Both restaurants at the hotel made wonderful food. We had breakfast daily, lunch once, and dinner once. We loved everything they made. The hotel is close to everything you want see or fo in Santa Barbara. I highly recommend this hotel.

Myryam was very gracious upon our arrival and made us feel welcome, like we were guest staying in her home. No restroom in the hotel lobby. Very nosy with doors open to balcony with sirens, traffic, and motorcycles. With doors closed, it was so much quieter, but then you don't get the ocean breeze!

They let pets stay at the hotel and so unfortunately our room had fleas. I noticed I had some bug bites on my ankle which I just assumed was from the beach, but when what I thought was a piece of dirt on the bed jump away, I realized I had flea bites. Caught one with a glob of lotion and took it to the front desk. They immediately offered to switch our rooms. Can't say that this is a cleanliness problem because they clean the rooms, but if pet owners aren't treating their animals for fleas and bringing them in, How are you going to know? It's just disappointing when you're paying a premium for a nice place only to get flea bites. Room location was also subject to a lot of foot traffic noise being next to a very loud exit door and the air conditioner in the room made a lot of strange sounds like you were in a fun factory. Doesn't make for restful sleep, so we cranked it down during the day to get it as cold as possible and then turned it off for the night. Other than that, the property is nice and everyone was very friendly.

Awesome staff always was there and available to accommodate whatever needs we required. Love this hotel and love the location.

Horrid staff, unprofessional staff, no A/C, mold-infested, booked specific ocean view room but was bait and switched downgraded room

Early check in turned into late check in. Took two hours to tell us the was a plumbing problem? Valet never appeared with luggage I had to go get it. What time does Room Service start? End? High expectations, mediocre performance. Better value at nearby Hotels.

Best thing was the valley staff, they were great! Room was in annex building... should have been less $ due to location. Cocktails at both restaurants were sub-par.

Great stay.

The free bike rental was a highlight and a great way to see the waterfront. The valet parking staff were very helpful, though street parking around the hotel was a real challenge, especially on weekends. The pool is on the small side, but the hot tub was fine. Worth knowing about the location: you’re right on the beach, but it’s a 30–40 minute walk to the wharf and the main restaurant and activity area downtown — the bikes helped a lot here. Our main complaint was the AC unit in the room, which was loud. Even after shutting it off at night, it kept making a gurgling noise.
