Everything else. This place is the King of deception. Images have nothing to do with reality. It is Dated, Dirty, Dusty, Dark, Dilapidated, Depressing and Decadent in a bad way. The kind of place Tim Burton could shoot a B-series horror movie without changing a thing. Even the creepy receptionists could play a major character. Avoid at all costs.

For the very competitive price, it’s hard to really complain about this hotel. The bedroom itself is pretty clean, and the bed is comfortable enough. The staff are also pretty friendly and warm, and even if they don’t speak great English, it’s enough to communicate the essentials. Even though it’s dated, I quite like some of the traditional touches, like keeping the traditional lift and classic decor in the lobby. I overall feel that this hotel does a decent job in dealing with the negative sides detailed below. The biggest downside is the location - a very sketchy area with lots of drug addicts and homeless people. Even as the hotel admits itself in warnings in the elevator, it’s not safe to hang around outside the hotel, especially at night. Police and hotel attendants seem to be doing what they can to mitigate risks, but it still makes you uncomfortable. The windows and curtains are very thin, and especially on the lower floors then light/noise from outside might keep you awake. There is quite a lot of mould on the bathroom ceiling - seemingly there is no effective extractor fan, and over the decades the mould has built up. In general, the whole hotel could do with modernising and refurbishment. The breakfast is okay, but nothing fantastic. Second night there, we actually chose to visit a nearby café for a more appealing breakfast selection.

The staff were friendly and helpful, although English wasn’t widely spoken. They often relied on Google Translate to communicate, which worked well enough. Good water pressure and hot shower. Breakfast was a good selection. The room felt quite dated, and the bathroom could use a thorough cleaning and some maintenance. The mattress wasn’t very comfortable, and the sheets didn’t fit properly. Additionally, the bathroom window didn’t close, which

Nice room, comfortable beds, very helpful and friendly staff. The breakfast is okay but a little on the weak side. One thing I have noticed about almost all of the hotels we have stayed at in Brazil is that the scrambled eggs are very wet. I don't like runny eggs. The hotel is old and in need of an update. The location is the biggest problem. This hotel is located in an area known as Cracklandia, high crime and drug activity.
