The ryokan is at a little distance from restaurants and activities. I am pretty sure this was clear in their literature but I did not realize that this would bother me! Not their fault!

The location is very good, inbetween the Botanical garden and Akarenga (former government building) and a 20 min or less walk from Sapporo station.

The breakfast was quite large. Being a ryokan, they served a more home-style breakfast with rice, pickled vegetables, slice of fish, soup, rolled eggs, Japanese croquettes, etc. Be sure to book a day in advance for the meals, though! Me and my family had really good sleep there. It's proper etiquette to hand your keys to the receptionist when going outside the ryokan. They will perform room service while you're gone. Service is exceptional at the price.

    - Onsen was sometimes too hot. I've been to other onsens before, but this one was just too hot on some nights. - No parking - needed to park in a garage nearby. It also made it tricky to unload/load our luggage because we were afraid of getting ticketed while the car was parked on the side and we were moving our bags. They gave us directions and discount for the parking garage which was nice. But we were going to park for multiple days, and were unsure about how it would work if we're paying a day's parking-pass but wanted to pull our car out for a couple hours. We had trouble understanding their explanation because of the language barrier - I think they could prepare a pamphlet or FAQ in English for various parking scenarios.

Just too small. Everything is small. Bathroom is small, room is small, etc etc. Built when the average Japanese was much smaller than they are today. WiFi not great. Location also a bit further from city center than some other hotels.

Each room's bathroom could also use with actual soap and shampoo bottles, rather than the currently provided satchels which might not even be enough for one shower. The vending machines also do not accept newer bank notes and coins, making inconvenient to have to exchange them in the reception every time you want to use them if you don't have the older bank notes or coins.

Ryokan style tatami rooms + Onsen baths. Lack of drawers/places to hang the clothes.

Great experience, looking forward to stay there again. Loved the bath and the breakfast!

A nice, quiet ryokan very close to Sapporo Station (12 minute walk). The room has a good amount of space at the entryway for your luggage. The lobby was comfortable and warm, a good place to relax if staff is busy cleaning your room. The public bath has very good water temperature, nice and hot. You do need to drop off your room key at the front desk whenever you go out, but there was always staff there so it wasn't an inconvenience.

Loved the public bath times. The staff were wonderful and friendly. Centrally located to nearby places (like the mall) and close to station. The staff spoke a little english to us, so we could practice speaking to them in japanese. The futon was soooo comfy and warm! The bathroom in our room was small, but the public bath compensated for it.

It took me three days to realize I could take the remote for the air con off the wall and point it at the sensor to adjust the temperature. Felt a bit dumb when I realized.

Onsen was great, staff very helpful and friendly, loves the traditional room. Room was a little tired and worn.

This is one of my favorite place to stay in Japan. It seems very old school in how it’s managed and presented (the foot traffic suggests people have come here for years). They have an incredible breakfast - up to 12 pieces all prepared to perfection. The staff is warm and friendly. The rooms are in the Japanese style and very spacious and comfortable. I learned a lot about Japan just spending a couple of nights here. It is just a couple of blocks from the train station, the otari (Central Park) and the main shopping arcade, and a stones’ throw from the botanical garden if you need a walk to start or end your day. Perhaps a little dated, but in a way that added to the charm.

The location was perfect … easy walking distance to Odari Park and the entertainment. The Botanical Garden offered a great constitutional. The room was clean and provided all that I could ask for, and breakfast was just amazing. The staff was very kind. I could not recommend this more highly.

Staff is very helpful...10 min walk from Sapporo Station....In-house hot spring available almost around the clock, and best of all it's quiet. If you are into party atmosphere, this may not be the place. Lack of late-night food establishments, but again, that's because it's located in a quiet neighborhood. Do the homework and get some food before going back to the hotel, and you won't have a problem.

Frankly underwhelming. The staff were super friendly, which I appreciates, but that was about it. The water at the "great" communal bath was weak.

The location worked out good for me and the room was very nice. The breakfast was not as good as I had at other motels in Japan.
