AS always the hotel is very good, the only problem is the air from the A/C I asked for an early check in, and they surcharged me one extra day for that reason ! Also if i must say, every time i visit, the people at the front desk, speak less and less english - it is of high importance to carry a translation app on your phone !

In the middle of nowhere:(( only convenient for exhibition and the price during exhibitions is extremely high

- Insects on tge table and in the bed on 2 occasions. - Staff used to speak better english on the counter desk. - Buffet dinner should at least be available the night preceeding the exhibition. - 90% of food is fried. Need healthier boiled or grilled options

Room was spacious, clean and well equipped. Breakfast were great, wide selection of Chinese as well as continental options. Location is right at the NECC, which is very convenient if your target is visit some exhibition, you can enter it straight from the hotel. However we travelled there with family due to football tournament, which was close by and we enjoyed the pool, gym as well as other facilities. Noisy door at bathroom. But I am sure it will be fixed for next guests.

The room was comfortable and well-maintained, with good facilities that made the stay relaxing. The breakfast was satisfactory and provided a decent variety to start the day. The location offered easy access to major attractions in Shanghai, making sightseeing convenient. There are no grocery stores or similar shops in the immediate vicinity, which made it difficult to purchase small essentials. The money exchange machines at or near the hotel were also unreliable, which caused inconvenience. Having more practical amenities nearby would greatly improve the guest experience.

Extremely disappointing stay...Far below the Intercontinental standards Our stay at this Intercontinental Shanghai Hongqiao was deeply unsatisfactory, falling far short of expectations for a global hotel chain. Communication Issues & Poor Service: Only two staff members spoke English—one was helpful in providing directions, while the other, a particularly rude woman at the breakfast buffet, repeatedly harassed us, falsely claiming our booking was only for two people and demanding extra payment (waving a bill in our faces). This was incorrect, as we had already paid for three guests. We send her off multiple times to the reception to check, yet not a sign of an aplogatic look or being sorry..only a "dirty-stare" .. same story the very next morning. Unprofessional Gym & Spa Staff: The gym and spa staff were shockingly unprofessional. When we inquired (via translation) about the steam room to the woman in the morning shift (should couldnt speak any english & was very dismissive) she called a middle-aged man who was working out inside the gym, he took us inside the changing room mumbling rudely in chinese, then when we arrived at the sauna we explain via the translation app that we were looking for the steam room... he lost it and began shouting at us in Chinese. It turns out there was no steam room—yet instead of clarifying, the staff refused to call reception to resolve the misunderstanding. When we escalated the issue, the reception staff either didn’t speak English and responded with dismissive smiles and vague acknowledgments ("OK, OK"), offering no real solution. The hotel management is free to check the cameras on 16th April around 7:40ish AM.in the SPA. The 3 other people in the shower area came out to see what is going on... Unwelcoming Atmosphere & Poor Breakfast buffet: The breakfast buffet was underwhelming, especially for the Intercontinental.

Great hotel, especially if you’re attending an exhibition at the NECC. I was able to access the exhibition through the hotel, which was very convenient. The rooms are good with the basic amenities you’d expect from an Intercontinental Hotel. The breakfast was good. There’s also access to the subway via the NECC which makes it convenient to get around Shanghai. I was unable to use the swimming pool or Jacuzzi because I didn’t have a swimming cap. I wasn’t notified about this requirement when booking the hotel. There’s only one bar & restaurant excluding the Buffet restaurant. The hotel reception gave us the incorrect information regarding the duration of the Subway from NECC to Pudong International Airport. She advised that the duration is +- 50 minutes, however, the actual duration was around 90 minutes, which is a significant difference and could result in someone missing their flight.
