Location is unbeatable. Right across the street from the Xintiandi malls and restaurant area, and connected to Huai Hai Road where you'll find endless shops, cafes, and restaurants — Songmont flagship store was only a 20-minute walk away. You won't run out of things to do on foot. Service was impeccable. Staff were friendly, all spoke English well, and went out of their way to help with restaurant reservations and parcel collection/delivery to rooms. One staff member who assisted with our luggage — I believe he was mute — was incredibly warm and helpful. I didn't catch his name but he made an impression. Rooms were large, spacious, clean, and modern. Beds were comfortable. Shower pressure was strong with perfect temperature control — if you're someone who needs a proper hot shower, you'll be very happy here. One small gripe: the turndown service comes around 4–5pm, which I found a bit early. I'd prefer this to happen while guests are out for dinner so you return to a freshened-up room — not while you're still in it deciding what to wear. Gym was great, though a couple of machines were out of order. There's a really nice shower area for post-gym and post-swim, and a big pool too (though I didn't use it). Breakfast spread was fantastic — good mix of Western, Chinese, and Indian options. They also let you grab a free takeaway coffee (latte, flat white, etc.) from the breakfast restaurant, which is a nice touch. The lounge has a live band at night. Not really my thing personally, but the lounge staff were friendly and attentive — we had drinks there on two evenings and it was a nice way to wind down.

The worst experience of my life. Before the trip, I did a lot of research and chose this place because of its positive reviews on Booking.com But upon arrival, I encountered: 1. The women staff charged an excessively large deposit without informing me, amounting to 68,000 yuan, even though the total cost of the accommodation for the trip was only 2x,xxx yuan. When I argued, they acted oblivious and refused to apologize. While I was showering in my room, I heard someone open the door and saw a shadow pass by the bathroom. I quickly opened the door and found a male staff member had entered the room without permission. I strongly advise against staying here. It was a very unpleasant and unsafe experience.

Wifi was pretty good for China, but not great overall. Restrictions on wifi usage is still one of the downsides of traveling to China

Cleanliness and location ??Absolutely unacceptable experience — I strongly advise anyone visiting Shanghai to avoid this hotel. We booked 4 twin rooms through Booking.com with a clearly confirmed total price of around CNY 55,000. The hotel accepted and confirmed these bookings. However, at check-in/payment, we were charged RMB 71,219, which is over RMB 16,000 more than the confirmed price. This is already a major and unacceptable discrepancy. On top of that, we were also asked to pay an additional RMB 8,000 as a deposit for the rooms, which was never mentioned anywhere on Booking.com during the reservation process. If this had been clearly stated in advance, we would have come prepared. However, after discussing with the staff, it was reduced to 4000 RMB. Still, we should’ve been informed beforehand. We are travelers on a planned budget, and suddenly being asked to pay such a large unexpected amount completely disrupted our trip. This money was intended for our expenses during the stay (food, shopping, etc.), not for hidden or undisclosed charges. There was no proper explanation, no transparency, and no effort to resolve the situation at the time. A confirmed booking price should be honored, and all charges — especially large deposits — must be clearly communicated in advance. What happened here is misleading and unprofessional. ⚠️ Warning to future guests: Do not rely on the confirmed price shown online, and be prepared for unexpected additional charges that are not disclosed during booking. We are escalating this with Booking.com and expect a full investigation and refund. Very disappointing and stressful experience.

Location and staff. Room, bathroom and amenities are excellent. Breakfast was expansive but flavors were not amazing. Most of the items that were native to China tasted dull. Fruit selection was small for this class of hotel. Also, the coffee service is ok. They need to add some small dishes for jelly, jams and Nutella.

The hotel was stunning!! Very happy with The Langham. The location was perfect and close to shopping and restaurants. the staff were very polite, courteous and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and fun. Very, Very happy and would love to come back and stay again. Nothing could be better. It was outstanding.

We loved our stay. The breakfast was wonderful–many options with everything freshly prepared and laid out nicely. The location was central to many restaurants and mall stores. The room and the bed itself was comfortable! We hope to stay again one day. We also appreciated the hospitality of the staff–everyone was so kind and attentive.
