Ryokan Ogawa

Very nice location May be not a big space inside the room than I expected.

The room was clean and comfortable, with all the amenities I'd want for a short stay. The private onsen was clean, easy to access and relaxing. The staff were friendly and helpful, allowing me to store my bag, check in and check out were easy. The ryokan is a short walk from the station and town center. N/A

The owner and staff are all very lovely. The hotel is in a great location: close to attractions, the station, and THE BEACH. Beds are very comfy, and rooms are incredibly clean. The onsen's are my favorite part! I have come here 4 times already, and I know it won't be my last. The coffee shop, free tea and snacks, as well as rentable bikes, are also a great bonus! You can hear traffic just a little, but the hotel provides earplugs, so it was not a problem.

It was very well put together and so simple and felt like home. Nothing.

The property appeared modern. I don’t appreciate booking a room online, but being given a smaller room that typically is less in price. I don’t appreciate when I spoke to the staff she had no real response but saying I booked last and the property was full so had no solution to fix the issue. I don’t appreciate the shower having hair in it or the ceiling dripping of water all night.

The private onsens were a really good plus. Many facilities. Despite it being branded as a ryokan, my room decoration was anything but traditional, but I think not all the rooms are the same so it depends what you're looking for. The check in hour is a bit late. A lot of noise coming from the upper floor.

The futon blankets were for summer and not warm enough for the middle of winter. The pillows were terrible and basically empty. The baths are okay but too difficult to keep warm.

The shoe storage box on the first floor has a bad odor. Spray should be provided to help eliminate the smell.

I love how kind the staff were plus the bike rentals are the best, it’s $20 for the day and you can have the bike out until dark. They have the best private onsens. The rooms were so clean and spacious. 100/10. Absolutely nothing:)

It was a very cool hotel. The rooms were pretty nice. There is a private Onsen that is free for guests to use. It is in a convenient location and has reasonable bike rental rates. I was generally pleased with this spot for my stay in Shimoda. The beds and futons are not comfortable at all, and I usually am comfortable on futons (I sleep on one in my dorm). It would be worth working on. Some details were less clean than they could be. Not a "ryokan" in the traditional sense if that's something that you are looking for, not inherently negative but to avoid confustion.

very friendly staff, nice large room, very clean, onsen was also very clean and neat, quiet location, easy to reach on foot from the shimoda station (about 10 min)

First hotel in a long time where the smell was good, from the sheets, the towels and the soaps to the room scent. Thin walls, can hear neighbors and cars from the nearby road
