We had japanese-style room with a tiny bathroom which for 4 days stay was ok, but the space is comparable to airplace lavatory :). Hotel might seem outdate but the location and staff are making up for it 100%

First of all, you can't beat the location of this hotel. It is just a stone throw from the famous Shirarahama Beach. The view from the beachside rooms is like from a travel magazine. The facilities are amazing and generous, from the onsen to the karaoke room. Oh the space-theme massage chairs are brilliant! What I would like to focus is food. For dinner, I hope it to be a proper kaiseki course but we got an all-you-can-eat buffet. Still, the food was awesome and the dish that stole the show is ramen! Their desserts are refreshing with delectable sizes. What I impressed more is the breakfast. The wakayama special rice bowl topped with salmon, small fish, and grated yam is simple and delicious. A bowl of ume infused soba is shining through as well. This is the hotel that I would like to come back to enjoy everything again!

Lovely and clean Japanese style room. Not the biggest room we have stayed in ryokans so far for the price it commands, but shirahama generally seems more expensive. Always love an in-room open air bath. Water was prepped prior to check-in so you can just dip right in. There was a good variety at breakfast with both Japanese and western options. Location is right by the beach with the local bus stop right outside. It’s a really small thing but the hot spring bath’s temperature has to be manually adjusted by yourself; otherwise it’ll be scalding hot. Would be perfect if the water temperature could be pre-adjusted to cooler levels so guests don’t have to wait too long for the water to cool to use the bath in the morning.

The hotel offers a lovely view of the beach, enhancing our overall experience. The reception staff were very helpful, ensuring that everything went smoothly during our stay. We enjoyed the breakfast, which was quite good, and the onsen, particularly the semi-outdoor one, was excellent. It was a nice feature to have the male and female onsens exchanged, allowing us to try both and enjoy different experiences. The room was quite old and unfortunately filled with dust. We also experienced an issue with the toilet, which kept dripping water. When the staff came to make our bed, they moved the table and blocked our luggage in the corner, which meant we had to move the table again to access our bags. Additionally, the kaiseki dinner did not meet our expectations. The presentation wasn't as pleasant compared to other onsen hotels, and we found the quality and freshness to be just fair. Overall, these aspects detracted from our experience. During check-out, we had to use a self-service machine, which was intended to be easy and convenient. However, we encountered some technical problems, and the staff were not very helpful. They suggested we continue trying with the machine but did not allow us to check out at the reception. As a result, we spent about 15 minutes trying to complete the check-out process and settle our payment. This was quite frustrating and added unnecessary time to our departure.

Amazing hotel, it is far exceeded my expectations! Quite large but clean room, private hot spring. Delicious Kaiseki food in the room, free iced coffee in 2nd floor! I will go to there and take more time to experience this hotel next time!
