The room was comfortable, there was no air con but we were provided with a fan. There was a wide choice of menu for breakfast. There is nothing I can say, everything was great.

Location & breakfast Decor , minimal staffing , no bottled water/glasses in rooms, no drinking glasses, only 1 toilet roll per couple etc, TV on a totally random wall no one could see. Over priced in my opinion.

Room and breakfast were perfect. The staff were exceptionally pleasant and cheerful. The location was ideal as we were travelling by train. The surrounding area is full of history and beautiful shops. It was lovely to be in the heart of the Old Town area, and everywhere was so easy to access. It was rather warm in the bedroom but given the current extreme weather conditions it was to be expected. However the receptionist answered the problem by providing a fan.

Breakfast good , location good . Hotel tired in areas Car park a distance away Very noisy at night kept awake till well turned 2.30 am

The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The receptionist found a fan for me during hot weather. The breakfast was very tasty. Care had been taken to source quality local ingredients. The hotel is a lovely historic building, and located in the centre, away from a main road, so no noise issues.

Very comfortable room with thoughtful details to suit a single person. Breakfasts very good. Nothing.

Ideal location and lovely old building. Fact that they went to offer me someone else’s bag and didn’t bother to ask my details first and it wasn’t the right one. So doing it by memory…

    location, staff

  • Engine customer Aug 2026

Staff were lovely, really helpful at any time. The location is perfect for wandering around. Breakfast was delicious and the sherry on arrival was a lovely touch. The hotel guests were quiet, minor exception of creaking floorboards above but that was it.

Breakfast was excellent and the staff were very helpful. Breakfast, one of us are not keen with a hot breakfast so some smoked salmon, meat and cheeses would have been good. Took a while to gest our bearings to the bedroom.

The room was pretty and its position is was great. Also the breakfast choices were fantastic and beautifully cooked. The waitress was lovely too Getting to the car park was interesting and going back there late at night wasnt nice qs it is in a dark and unlit open car park. The hotel itself is very dated and whereas we like old and traditional, the furniture seemed like it had been the same for decades and needs modernising

    Bad

The location was excellent. The breakfast was very good, and the service was attentive and efficient. It was particularly busy on Sunday morning, but it was clear that the hotel had extra staff on hand to cope with the increased demand, which meant everything ran smoothly. There is a pub next door, which was very noisy on the Saturday night and disturbed our stay. We experienced some very hot weather during our visit and, on request, were provided with a fan. Unfortunately, the first fan produced very little air movement even when running on full power, so it had to be exchanged. The replacement was exceptionally noisy as well. This was eventually exchanged for a third fan, which was fine. We also had one drink in the hotel bar. They did not have **three of our four first-choice drinks**, so we had to choose alternatives. The price was eye-watering, at an average of £9.25 per drink.

Location The hotel is very tied now needs decorating the wardrobe in my room was falling to bits . The ceiling was very cracked also double glazed units had failed ..

Central location. A beautiful, historic building. Friendly staff. Good sized rooms & bathrooms. No parking on site. Fixtures & fittings were a bit outdated (eg: not enough plugs).
