The service was wonderful and the location was perfect. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was plenty of food. We loved this place. It was exactly what you expect an old pub inn to be.

Our room was on the quiet side of the building, so no disturbance from karaoke night! Plenty of room to move. Good breakfast. Bathroom private, but across the hallway. Could have supplied a couple of wine glasses. Difficult stairways and landings. Although the listing said pay at venue, our card was charged by Booking.com a few days before arrival, and the venue insisted we pay them on arrival before they would refunded the Booking charge. Embarrassing! I blame Booking.com!

    Shower was a bit ordinary

The location was superb, right in the centre of Shrewsbury, within easy reach of the many restaurants there. The selection of beers, both real ales and keg beers, was excellent. The breakfast was very well cooked and tasty All the staff we met were extremely friendly and helpful. In the room, there were no lights above any of the mirrors, making shaving a little difficult. Having an external, though private bathroom was a little inconvenient, but we knew the situation when I booked. In the shower stall was very compact and there was nowhere to put toiletries, other than on the floor.

The location is ideal for the main town. The place retains the ambience of being old yet updated. The breakfast menu was varied and plenty of it. The karaoke on sunday night was abysmal. Not the fault of the staff, i admit, but auditions should happen before performance. The wi-fi in the room was a bit flaky. Book reading is essential.

Lack of parking and the price of nearby parking expensive if you are parking up for any length of time park and ride 10 minutes away is best option. Parking attendants very keen.

Lovely old hotel right downtown; steps away from great sights and pubs. Very hospitable staff. A bit noisy in the evening; they do karaoke and live music but they shut down by 2100; a small price to pay for a lovely stay.

Really nice old building and serves decent beer as well, was there mid week so pretty quiet. Decent breakfast. The up the passage bathroom is a pain though reflected in the price. Room four could do with a chair. Only 1 hour for breakfast is slightly constraining.

Breakfast was ok cumberland sausage not nice egg not cooked ate bacon and beans dissapointed location was not 5 min walk from car park and very expensive on top of room price plus staff fobbed us off with you can got ticket online you cant so have to get up early to put another expensive ticket on before 8am then walk back uphill to hotel Breakfast !! Carparking !! Staff not helpful !! Wifi not good!!! Came back to have a drink at 930 to find pub completely shut including gate across entrance surely if guests are staying should be able to have a drink in bar as is a hotel and a paying guest
