Hogarths Hotel

I met up with a friend and we thought our rooms were great as was the bar and the brasserie. The reception team was very helpful and provided us with a map for a 5km run which we managed to eat out to 7km!s and then have a lovely breakfast in beautiful surroundings. While the food was lovely, as someone with a fish allergy I felt my choice was limited.

Nice hotel, good restaurant although not an extensive menu. The room was fine although no phone to contact reception. The breakfast was good. The fire alarm sounded at 06.11 hrs, 06.27 hrs and 06.45 hrs. With no room phone we messaged on the in-house system with a reply to say someone would come to our room. We waited but nobody arrived. At 07.15 hrs we received a message saying it would not happen again. No apology nor explanation at checkout until we mentioned it, a weak apology followed. Left with the impression that H&S procedures were very weak. I did suggest we should have a refund of the room charge. We were offered free drinks (£15) from the night before. It was the sleep disturbance for an hour from 06.11 which was the main problem, some staff acknowledgement that a faulty alarm was a genuine disturbance would have been welcome.

All of the staff were friendly and attentive. All communal areas were spotless and well looked after. At the time of our stay the lift was out of order, however the staff did offer to take our luggage to the room. The air conditioning in the room we were assigned didnt work, again the staff moved us to a room with air conditioning that did work. Overall the hotel staff did everything they could to redress the issues.

There was nothing not to like, Beautiful place , very friendly staff, good food Everything was excellent Honestly there was nothing,

The bed was really really comfortable, room was large, staff really helpful and the grounds very nice. I had dinner outside, and whilst there was a wedding on it was not noisy. This was a 'stop off' en route to an event and booked rather last minute. A very good choice!

cleanliness and location The fish and chips were abysmal All batter very little fish Chips well overcooked I mentioned it to the lovely young server and she said sorry but my bill wasnt adjusted Breakfast very basic and the menu was virtually the same as the last 2 years Needs a new menu for sure We wont return which is a pity as we have been going years
