If you’re able to handle going up and down 7 flights of (sometimes slippery) stone stairs (indoor) to reach these apartments, you won’t be disappointed! Excellent communication via Booking and WhatsApp in the lead-up to our stay, with a warm welcome from Toni upon arrival, who even helped us drag all our suitcases up the stairs. We were all super sweaty by the time we arrived, lol. Check in was not until 2pm, and Toni was gracious in permitting us to leave our luggage in La Porta until the rooms were ready. He even messaged us via WhatsApp well ahead of the scheduled check-in time to advise the rooms were ready and available for us — so sweet! We climbed the stairs again just before 2pm — and OMG we didn’t want to leave!!!! … everything was amazing, from having a safe in the room to the hidden fridge to the cute toiletries and the amazing view (we had the room with the balcony). We really can’t fault this place — but watch your head on some low ceilings … and oof, those stairs! ? The highlight of our stay, however? Toni and his wife, who manage these apartments. They are incredibly hardworking humans and truly wonderful. From the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out, they were at our beck and call, answering all our questions and offering to help arrange a taxi to the airport upon departure. Toni even checked in that same afternoon to make sure we’d made it to the airport safely. Awwww. The stairs can be challenging for older individuals or those with mobility concerns.

The room was very small. Not enough room for our luggage which was minimal.

Toni, the host, met us at the door for easy check-in, was friendly, made sure we had what we needed, and was very helpful with suggestions during our stay. The refrigerator was in a closed cabinet that got hot inside and would perform better and last longer in a ventilated space. The entry and stairway motion sensor lights were slow to come on, so we found ourselves climbing stairs in the dark at times.

TONI WAS EXCELLENT. THE VIEW IS AWESOME.

Easily walkable to the marina and palace. Toni was very helpful and communicated via WhatsApp. The stairs with luggage are a challenge. But with assistance from he staff if arriving when free makes it more manageable. Be sure you don’t have very heavy luggage.

Location was great the property was beautiful and the hosts were kind and available. There was no parking but parking is literally a few minutes away and safe to park overnight.
-
Great location and Toni was super responsive and helpful. Being able to leave our luggage in the vestibule was an added bonus on check out day so that we didn’t have to pay for luggage storage at the ferry port.

Host,Toni was very helpful and friendly. I was happy with my stay generally. Size of the room

The rooms were on the top floor, and there were several flights of stairs to get to the rooms.
-
Very good location, near to many markets and next to the historic district, could not be better to be in the center of the all attractions , the hosts are very nice and helpful, always ready to help and to answer questions and make recommendations. Toni and his wife are the best hosts ever.

Excellent location , nice, clean place. Everything was great. Maybe the 4 flights of stairs aren’t for everyone. But it was not a problem.
-
Great location but we didn't realize it was on the fourth floor with no elevator. We were greeted by a very friendly and helpful staff, who shlept our luggage up to our rooms. He also brought then down when we left. The location was the prize.

We had a balcony overlooking the Palace of Diocetius. The view of the Adriatic was tremendous, and my wife and I got to watch the sun go down and the moon come up. Magical. The open market was just downstairs and you can get good produce, cheese etc. at reasonable prices. Coffee shop and bakery too. Ok. The apartment is three flights up. You will not find any elevators anywhere near by because this is a historic district and they are not allowed. I wouldn't want it to be any other way. It's how you get the unique balcony view. Our gracious host Toni helped with the bags, and stairs don't bother us yet, so all was well. Toni is a gem, and a mine of information.

The room is pretty tight and really not very comfortable. A couple of hard chairs to sit on was all. Also, if you don't like stairs, this is not for you. 4 flights of very steep stairs and not very good lighting in the staircase.

So beautiful and at the gate of the city We overpacked and my husband and the owner had to carry our bags to the top of the building.

Great location!!! Friendly and communicative staff. Very clean. You have to walk up floors to get there. Normally not a big deal but we had big suitcases this trip.

2 of us stayed for 3 nights and this was the perfect base for exploring Split. If you want to be near the action with Diocletian Palace vibes, this spot is ideal. Location: • Steps from Diocletian’s Palace and Green Market • The Daltonist bar is just 2 doors down — excellent vibe • In a pedestrian zone — Uber drops you about a block away • Safe alley with cobblestones — manageable with wheeled luggage • Easy to walk everywhere — Riva waterfront promenade, ferry port The Room: • Very quiet thanks to double-paned windows • A/C and mini fridge worked great • Bed was comfy (I added my own blanket for weight) • Bathroom is a few steps downstairs in the unit — super clean, great water pressure • Toiletries included • Plenty of space to unpack, huge closets • Accurate to photos (wish we had a balcony, prob needed to request?) Toni (the host): • Super responsive and helpful • Helped carry my large suitcase up/down 4 flights • Gave helpful local tips (like public library access for internet/printing) Other: • Enjoyed Amazon Prime during a thunderstorm • Wi-Fi available (we didn’t really use it) • Croatia’s tap water is excellent everywhere, so pack a reusable drinking container. Would definitely stay here again, what a deal! Entrance is a little hard to find at first — it’s inside an older building with no obvious signage until you get into the tucked alleyway. It is a big green door with a small sign on the right if the door that says “La Porta”. • 4 flights of stairs and no elevator — but Toni helps with bags, so let him know your arrival and check-out time • Toilet may need a couple flushes — not uncommon in older buildings in Europe • No balcony in our room — ask ahead if that matters to you
