MainStay Suites Springfield IL

Upon checking in, was asked to check the room before completing the check in process where they held our credit card and ID until we checked the room. Once we entered the room, found at least 4 rat and roach traps across the floor. The room also smelled so much like cigarette smoke that after being in the room for less than half an hour we couldn’t breathe. The only solution offered was air freshener. Decided best choice was just to leave and stay at another hotel even after being told immediately that no refunds would be offered. The decision to lose the money and spend it on another room was VERY worth it. Also the area around the hotel was very run down, and had several police officers walking throughout the hotel searching for homeless people within an hour timeframe.

Not safe feeling, not clean, no toiletries, dirty towels, dirty bathroom, air did not work, and lots of noise. We turned in our keys and left. Front desk was nice, but said they couldn’t help with a refund. Expedia was wonderful recouping the payment.

Additionally there was no cable tv, all ice machines were broken and out of order, one elevator was out of order, rooms had bed bugs (discovered at 5 am by my sister when she got up to pee), the smoke detector in room 200 was missing (but the wires were there), the amenities posted on the website were not available. The rooms were so bad that the ladies with me said they would not spend the 2nd night and I drove home arriving at 2:00 am. This hotel was uninhabitable based upon the fire code violations and bugs.

Do not stay here elevator broke, dirty , we had to find another place last minute

This was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. The room was filthy (mystery stains on the bed sheets and floor, bathroom appeared to have never been cleaned) and was falling apart. The common areas were dingy and not well maintained. Staff were incompetent and incapable of completing the bare minimum of tasks. If I had the option, I would have demanded a refund and left.

When I arrived a large storm tore through this exact location. Lightning struck a transformer just across the parking lot and took out the hotel and surrounding area. I was never able to register or stay. Wasn't the hotel's fault. Mother nature had other plans for me.

Upon arriving there were some very unhappy customers in the lobby stating their room was dirty and seen bugs. I attempted to check in at which time the attendant stated she didn’t have my reservation. She was very rude and offered no help. I was relocated to another hotel that was worse. I opted out of staying and ended up driving home after the event I attended.

Nothing staff were very rude hotel was dirty are first room was all moldy on the carpet How dirty it was. How the room door didn’t lock there was food and bugs everywhere staff was rude. Even when my wallet got stolen they wouldn’t help me turns out they had it the whole time and wouldn’t give it back the room was dirty first room was moldy pool wasn’t opened there was spilt stuff all over the floors we got sick from how dirty it was my mom throw up multiple time I was close to throwing up

One of the worst I've ever stayed at!!!!!

The 2nd room I tried had a terrible cat/ dog urine smell and I immediately turned around The 3rd room had air and did not knock me over at the door. However, when my husband went in the room he smelled cigarette . When he laid down on the bed and looked over there was a pile of ash on the night stand. I could not spend the night in the room as he is very sensitive to cigarettes and we ordered a no smoking room. There was no remote for the TV but the girl was looking for one. Upon leaving police had been called to the facility. There was a homeless person arguing with the clerk about a Paypal payment that was supposed to have been made for her. NOT a good experience. We were in room less than 1 hour but they would not refund our money for that night. We went elsewhere and just lost that money

Idek where to start, the place is just icky, staff was unprofessional and made uncomfortable comments. Place is a scam… anyways I was told to go look at the room before checking in. First room, dirty. Sheets hadn’t been changed towels hadn’t been changed the floors hadn’t been vacuumed AND on the walk up there killed a roach in the hallway. Went down to the front desk and they gave us a new room we were checking it and it seemed good (keep in mind it was 3 am I was sleepy and just wanted to lay down) slept, woke up, went to work, came back and showered and I noticed there were bed bugs in the shower liner, go to check the bed again and low and behold there were bed bugs I’ve never packed up my stuff so fast went to the front desk showed them pictures. The lady went to the room to look at them and came back out I requested a refund for the deposit I had made for when I checked in she proceeds to say she didn’t have access and to email the support people (still haven’t received a response) thankfully the 3rd party website I booked through gave me the refund. Now I have welted bites all over and I spent 5x the amount I paid for the room to make sure I didn’t bring any hitchhikers home with me 😒

Absolutely horrible property

I didn't like anything about this stay I didn't like anything about this stay, it was horrible. First thing was the young lady that was checking me in was rude on a few different occasions I was getting my confirmation # and while I was in the middle of that she told me to go sit down there was nobody behind me and second thing was my TV didn't work and no remote would work either she was irritated that I wanted a working remote just to find out they didn't have any sort of cable she told me if I wanted to watch TV I had to stream netflix if I had an account and the third thing was my room was not even attempted to be clean so I went to front desk and asked for cleaning supplies so I could do it she told me no so I went and bought my own supplies the carpet was filthy and had drywall dust everywhere and paint and fourth thing was when I was in the shower the bathroom light and fixture fell out of the ceiling and was hanging by its wired I went to front desk again my fifth time down there to the rude little girl and told her about the light and she got mad at me and said your going to the fourth floor I told her I wasn't going anywhere so the light is still hanging loose wires so then I thought it was over with the night time desk guy come barging in my room demanding my confirmation # at 6 am this morning so yeah this was all within a 11 hour period of time so book a room at the main stay at your own risk

While staying at the hotel, the pool was closed. I had asked why it was closed and I got a response of "It's just closed". The room was nice. However, it could have been cleaner.

Bathrooms dirty. BED BUGS. Front desk always taking forever or not doing anything

We booked and paid for our room 3 weeks prior to our trip and when we arrived we were told that they were full and it's "first come, first served" and that they didn't have a room for us even though I had booked and paid way in advance.

Let me start by saying this should be closed not even -0 stars went to check in wait a 20 minutes for somebody to be at the counter and I did check in. She told me I had 30 minutes to decide if I wanted to stay that should’ve been assigned to get out went to the first room no shower curtain no blinds one pillow on the bed rugs dirty bathroom dirty went down. She got me another room and before I forget, I was on the fourth floor when I asked if I can get on the first floor and she said they were full and there were no cars in a parking lot on a Monday during the week got the second room walked in. There was a cleaning gardener. Eight bags of garbage went back down. She said the room was clean. I told her no she gave me the third room went in. They have a full-size fridge in there with the cord going across the floor into the bathroom plugged into the wall, tripping hazard. The sheets were nasty. My wife went down to get new sheets while I went to check the pool I was getting off the elevator and my wife was holding sheets in her hand. They didn’t even come up and change them. I told her to leave them there and we checked out. Go to find out this place pretty much is a homeless shelter. They charge $257 a week to stay there please please stay somewhere else pay the extra $510 not worth it. I’ve stayed at hundreds and hundreds of hotels and this is the number one dump of all time actually I would even go in there and take pictures selfies and post them. That’s how bad it is bad.

This place is an actual dump. It is contracted with the state to house homeless people. And the people that live there are disgusting. Had I known any of this I never would have booked it! Only one elevator worked and it stopped working when we were on it. Luckily we didn't get stuck for very long. The refrigerator doesn't work neither of the pools were available or working and the whole place was hot and smelled like hot trash. Immediately went to a different Hotel. Struggled to get a refund. Still struggling! But I don't care if I lose my money I was not about to stay there for one more second after being there 5 minutes. Do not book this hotel! It is absolutely ridiculous!
