The whole hotel is due a refurb, there was no electricity in my bathroom, paint and plaster peeling off the walls, I didn’t stay and got a full refund. The man on reception tried to get me to sort it with booking.com but it wasn’t my problem to sort it- he eventually sorted it and that was that Everything

The location only Cleanliness was poor across the whole property Room only cleaned around, seats and under bed was filthy too. Outdated Paid for a sea view, given box room without sea view. Bedroom was filthy Bathroom was damaged in multiple places and repeated filthy Hot tap didn’t work. Bedding was dirty on arrival, mattress not flipped or turned through the required months. Supplied ‘cooling’ fan was dusty and clearly no care was taken before dropping off in room.

Great location high on a road with views from St Ives Railway Station across the bay. The breakfasts were varied but generally good. Windows were openable which helped with the heat. Worn out carpets throughout the property. No help offered with my travel bags, the only hotel not to offer this service. Internal stairs in the lounge rooms down to the breakfast bar. A creaking lift which fortunately didn’t break down. And a shower system that I could not understand or make work. So I had to make do with the sink in my room. I asked for advice which did not work. So there were two many negatives for me at the St Ives Bay Hotel

The staff were lovely and really helpful and the breakfast was very nice the hotel was clean the location was ok the views were lovely from the sitting area The bed was so uncomfortable it was hard and you could feel the springs and the shower was crap like standing under a drip it was useless there was a bar and was supposed to have entertainment on the Saturday but the bar lady phoned in sick so the whole thing was cancelled surely they got more than one person to run the bar and the parking was really bad even though there was spaces for at least 6 cars outside the front of the hotel they put cones there so you could not park which I felt was wrong as we ended up parking on the leisure centre which is miles away from the hotel and is a trek and a half up a massive hill

Breakfast was decent. I got a room that was on the verge of falling apart. Disgusting shower, sink drain, balcony full of seagull droppings, hallways before you get to the room smell like sewage, window curtain dirty, floor in the room full of dirt. One of my worst rooms in life.

The biggest positive about the hotel is definitely its location. It is close to the beach and town centre, with a bus stop nearby. It is also conveniently located near a long stay car park and train station, which is useful if you want to visit places such as Carbis Bay. Lovely view of the beach. I’m aware that I booked a hotel with a low rating, but I wanted to experience it for myself. It was also the cheapest option available around the time we were looking to stay, so I decided to give it a chance. We booked two rooms at the St Ives Bay Hotel and unfortunately had a poor experience from the start. Check-in was supposed to be at 3pm, but we were not able to get into our rooms until around 4pm. We waited in the lounge area, which was pleasant and simple, although some of the chairs were clearly in need of refurbishment. When we were finally given the keys to the rooms, one room still had someone inside doing maintenance on the window, while the other room was dirty, bed was not made and clearly not ready for guests. We were then asked to wait another hour for the rooms to be prepared. The rooms themselves were very basic, with dirty walls and carpets. Both rooms had a lovely view of the beach, which was definitely a positive, but unfortunately the windows were covered in bird droppings, which spoiled the view. Another issue was the temperature of the room. It was far too hot, and the fan provided in the room did very little to cool it down. Thankfully, we brought our portable fans with us, otherwise the room would have been even more uncomfortable.
