It is a beautiful castle and great location and views of St Ives. Staff are very friendly and facilities are good as well.

We stayed here last year - the fact that we came back says it all - and again stayed in the Apartments. Bearing in mind we were here for a week, a 'normal' hotel room wouldn't have been right for us e.g., come the evening, we didn't want to watch TV sitting on a bed, we wanted a separate kitchen/dining area and so on. Anyhow, being in the Apartments meant it didn't feel as though we were staying in a hotel (if that makes sense?). A short walk to the shops and the beach front. Being on a hill, the walk down was great; the walk back uphill not so! But we were already aware of this from last year. Great location, great views, absolutely stunning castle and grounds. All staff we encountered were great. We've recommended Tregenna to friends and family as the 'go to' if they're intending to come to St Ives. No air con in the room, which we already knew, but the small desktop fan supplied was totally inadequate. (We actually brought along our own fans). A pity that neither skylight would open, no matter how hard we tried, so slightly uncomfortable in the current heatwave. The only real negative - which is not the responsibility of Tregenna - was some of the other guests. Has common courtesy really disappeared from our society? At breakfast time, it got quite busy. So, etiquette calls for you to perhaps move to one side when someone wants to get past? On at least five or six occasions I stepped to one side to let someone pass and on only one occasion did that person acknowledge and say thank you. Every other person just pushed by with not so much as a nod of the head. On another occasion, two kids were totally blocking access to the food trays. Despite their mother being with them, she continued to let them block the entire way, not once thinking to ask them to move to one side. Even when some of the kitchen staff were carrying full food trays through, again (from what I witnessed) no-one moved to one side to let them through - other than me!

The setting is five star, the grounds and gardens are lovely. We will be back. The internet didn't work too well, but that seems to be St Ives in general.

View was great. Breakfast was average. Extra activities weren't great. You need to call the stuff every time you need to access a facility. Outdoor pool was ok. They should think to create different water activities for the children. They have plenty of spaces. It would be a good fun for the children.

It was perfect for big party and everyone was so kind and welcoming I was disappointed that the Sauna and jacuzzi and steam room are no longer there.
