East Sydney Hotel

Good location and old victorian vibes. Very atmospheric and the manager was amazing, very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Loved the bar on the first floor, good deals at happy hour. They also held on to the luggage on the day of departure which was highly appreciated.

Within walking distance of train station and all major tourist attractions in the city. Clean and comfortable rooms- bed was excellent. I appreciated the small fridge in the room and coffee/tea availability in foyer outside rooms.

Highly recommend. Very well maintained, lovely staff, amazing value and location.

All the places I wanted to visit were nearby. The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful, with very few people around—exactly the kind of atmosphere I was looking for. The rooms are not soundproof. You can hear conversations from the neighboring rooms and even from people outside. The doors also close very loudly—to the point that the windows in the room vibrate when a nearby door is shut.

I was very impressed with how comfortable I felt in this hotel. I'm an older female traveling alone and felt very at home here. Spotlessly clean, nice little tea and coffee set up in the hall, 3 fully private bathrooms on my floor of 7 rooms so never a wait. Normally when coming to Sydney I stay right in city center and I think I prefer that. Even though it's only about a 1k walk, which is a lovely walk through the park, sometimes I feel like just popping out and don't feel like the walk. There was a little noise from the bar but I did not mind it because it's just people enjoying themselves but some people might be bothered by it

Yet even being old, the rooms were spacious, lots of plug by bed and around room, fan mounted out of the way not standing on the floor. Lots of shelves and hangers. Bathroom was shared but just five steps out of the room, and there were three full private rooms with sink, toilet and shower. Never had conflict for bathroom. Hot water pot for tea coffee just outside the room. Frig in room with cream Staff so friendly, bent over backwards to help or make situations work. Can't imagine staying anywhere else in Sydney as this had such a historical feel. We ate downstairs both nights, just sat outside and watched the people go by. Food was excellent Staff were so friendly, you knew they were on your side.

Shower draining system needs to be cleaned.

The hotel feels like it's tucked away from the rustle and bustle of the city, yet is only a couple of blocks from the city's main green areas and is located close enough to everything I wanted to see. The bed was missing a board, or something of the like, so only half of it was comfortable to sleep in.

Really enjoyed our stay. Friendly staff. Was able to check in early, which was a life saver after a long flight. Nice building. Comfortable bed. Good hot showers. Nice soaps and all. Very good location, 20 mins walk to the opera house. Extremely good value for money. I'd happily stay here again if I return to Sydney. It was a little cold in the winter
