PodBed Sydney - Hostel

The rooms are really nice with good facilities! Absolutely loved it there!!!

Location is good for trains, supermarkets, cafes and CBD. Owner put on dinner quite a few times which was a nice bonus. Smokers. People not washing their dishes after use.

Reasonable pricing allowing for a budget stay in Sydney, as opposed to most competitors in town. Free homecooked dinner available every night (one less thing to think about + brings guests together) is a rarity, a big plus and tremendous value. Friendy owner. Comfy bed with curtain. Reasonably clean bathrooms in sufficient number for amount of guests. All the basics, which may be everything you need, are covered. Internal common areas are truly minimal and uninviting. The external common area (for day use only) is spacious instead and has huge potential, but needs some love, hygiene and care, at a minimum, and maybe some decoration. Breakfast did not materialize during my stay (but dinner, which reliably did, more than compensated that!). The kitchen is very small for the amount of guests (but you may not need to use it much because free dinner), and does get cleaned on a daily basis but could use some more thorough cleaning (sticky handles etc.). --- The above are suggestions for improvement on things whithin management control. Most negatives, unfortunatey, are related to guests' own behavior and beyond the control of management: dear fellow travelers, make a point of being nice or at least not being a dick to others (e.g. overserving yourself before everyone has eaten, or leaving your dirty dishes and pots lying around, which make a mess of the common space and are NOT a responsibility of the cleaning staff tomorrow but your own today). Even small spaces can be pleasantly shared, with some consideration towards each other, the host and the staff. If we make our part, things get much better much faster for all.

I had a wonderful experience at this hostel. The breakfast was absolutely delicious, offering plenty of fresh and tasty options to start the day right. The location was perfect—close to everything I needed and easy to get around. n/a

close to kings cross station, no rats bathrooms dirty and smelly, room was smelly, kitchen was dirty, very unorganized staff.

Very clean facility and friendly staff

The location where this hostel is very calm and quite compared to other locations I have stayed in Sydney so far The room stinks like hell, I opted for 6 sharing. The room smelled of used clothes, bed sheets that were not changed for ages I guess. However, our bedsheets were okay. It looked like they had two people staying there for long duration and their stuff smelled badly including the room. Overpriced for the kind of hospitality we experienced. We paid the similar price later for another hostel and they had it well maintained. The Problem is surely with this hostel maintenance. I do not recommend this.

Nothing We’ve never seen a hostel so dirty. The staff were not unwelcoming. The room doors were broken and so were all the toilets. The establishment reeked of illicit substances right into the rooms. Cockroaches roamed all over the kitchen among the dirt and mold.
