rooftop terrace rooms quite dirty, not a lot of toilets available

It was very accomodating, the vibes. You can socialize. The atmosphere was fantastic. The food were great!

Easily the best hostel for backpackers in Sydney. A cozy place that allows you to meet people every day, get closer to the ones you already know and enjoy nice moments. Beds could be rearranged so that rooms have more space.

I arrived at 1:30. A young Spanish speaking woman ignored me for 5 minutes while she chatted with other guests eventually told me I could only be checked in at 2. I waited for 25 minutes. At 2 she was nowhere to be found and I and another person waiting to check in called her a few times until she appeared. She then told me I could not stay there as am over 35. Not sure why this could not have been told to me at 1:30!!!! Phoned the manager on duty ( also sounded Spanish speaking, would no give me her name) at 3:30, who was not particularly helpful and she said I wld have to get refund via booking.com, but that Tequila would OK it once they got request from Booking.com to confirm i had not been allowed to stay there. I called booking.com and they have emailed Tequila re the above. As of time of writing yet to get a response, although the email from Booking.com sid i would get a response within 45 minutes. The 18-35 restriction is hidden right at the bottom of the booking.com listing, whereas other youth hostels have it prominently displayed at top of page alongside pic of place. So quite deceptive really. Last week was in Brisbane stayed at YHA was no issue, and then on Stradbroke Island, Manta dive centre youth hostel...no issue. So this came as a disappointing surprise and 3 hrs of travel time to the Tequila hostel and then to look for alternate accommodation. Not impressed that you do not adequately foreground your age restriction, and that refund has not happened yet

Good location, great value and good food included Maybe 2 toilets but not a huge issue

The beds were very comfy Almost everything! I paid 450AUD for 4 nights (v expensive) thinking that I would get good value in a great hostel from the reviews, only to check out early, paying approx 200AUD for one night ! The food offer is there to draw people in, what they don't tell you is that you have to queue 30+ mins in cramped corridor to get some. I was checked into a 'max two persons' room only to be sharing with a couple (awkward). The hostel tried to argue that this was two per bed even though their signage is clear that this is not the case. The hostel was dirty (see the sink photo taken in the morning, full of food from the night before, the corridor and the rooms. I checked out early and stayed at the YHA for half the price, which felt like a 5* hotel in comparison. It took alot of effort to get a part refund (only) meaning my one night stay cost around 200AUD!!!! I can't get my head around the good reviews (I have stayed at plenty of hostels so I know what to expect for value).
