Sakura Guest House - Hostel

Worth the money and exceed my expectations.

Everything was well organized with a full kitchen. Nice outside space, a nice traditional Japanese house. A bit far from the center but the guesthouse owner was extremely helpful and offered to take us to the station

Traditional style lodge. Very fluffy duvet!! Woodstove in the kitchen. The shuttle service in the morning before buses run, was very nice. Very welcoming owners. Mattress was quite hard, but amazing duvet. I bit of a walk from town with limited buses.

The hosts are very kind and gentle. All facilities were good and clean. It provideed an Japanese atmosphere Nothing

It’s like i am Home.

The staff are so kind. They make you feel welcomed like family right away. Also a very social environment — the best type of social wherein everybody just gathers together at the end of the day to share stories. The space is beautiful and designed to feel like a traditional Japanese home. It was especially great to be there in the winter, because everything felt very cozy. It was also the perfect home base to see the Snow Monkeys, because it was a situated right on the super cute train line that takes you to/from Nagano and the monkeys. Nothing!

A little far from everything--but as mentioned above, the owner makes up for that with his shuttle car!

The staff was friendly, the room was big, the bed was comfortable, the bathrooms were clean, and lots of free parking. Just outside the city so it was great with a car, not sure if I'd love to walk here.

Lovely location just a little bit away from the bustle of the town. We took woke up to a Mountain View. The kitchen was pleasant! The staff were kind! Loved it all! The bunk beds were comfy!

room was great, very clean. Laundry was coin laundry and they provided detergent which was great. They also provided a free shuttle service to the station before local buses which was amazing.

Far from supermarket area and local restaurant

I stayed at Sakura twice, both times excellent. The place is beautifully located in the trees yet not far from town. I was in single room first time, female dorm the second time. . The common area is large and comfortable with a very well equipped kitchen. A really nice vibe so people use the space. The rooms are all kept very clean, the beds were super comfortable, toilet and sink facilities separate for men and women, and on the same floor as rooms. Plenty of nice hot showers on ground/first floor as well as pay washer and dryer which I happily used! They have three different timed shuttles every morning to town to the train station. And last but not least the staff are great, around if needed, and very accommodating! I will definitely stay here again if I return to Takayama. I liked it all!

What a charming guest house, easy location from the train station, grocery stores and the historic Village. I met some cool travelers in the kitchen of this guest house. It’s a very cozy property very welcoming atmosphere. Meeting people in the kitchen was my favorite part of the Property. Also, they rent bicycles and it’s easy to get around town on a bicycle. And the location was just wonderful even on a rainy day. We had the historic village right next to us so we could make the most of a rainy day.
