Nothing.

The location was right perfect and close to everything but not noisy. The staff were very accommodating and the decor was fabulous....original paintings combined with both modern and antique pieces in a most unique and marvelous blend. The breakfast was laid out in an exquisite manner and with only 5 rooms, it was intimate and uncrowded. Nothing...we loved it!

This is a very cute boutique hotel with nice areas to relax. Very comfortable rooms and attentive staff. The hotel is in a perfect location for a short walk to shops or restaurants.

Perfect location, lovely terrace, and delicious breakfast! Monica from reception was so helpful!

We liked everything - room, central location, cleanliness, staff, and food at breakfast. A feeling of staying at a quaint, small guesthouse! Extra thanks for the staffs accommodation and help with some special needs that emerged during our stay! We would suggest some very soft background music at breakfast!

High quality bed linens and they were pressed! Very friendly staff who gave their valuable insight about restaurants and the area. The breakfast was delicious, varied and plentiful. The breakfast room is quaint and historic as is the beautiful facility. I also enjoyed the courtyard with its beautiful lemon tree.

Very stylish but understated hotel in a great location overlooking the square. Gorgeous well appointed room. Welcoming and very helpful host. Breakfast was imaginative, fresh and had plenty of variety. Nothing

It was a gorgeous little boutique hotel. Perfectly located.

This hotel has a stunning aesthetic, and is located on a beautiful, central square — out the front door and the entire city is at your fingertips, but let the door close behind you and you’ll be in a peaceful oasis of calm and quiet. Despite how lovely the room, the breakfast, and the other amenities were, what I really loved about this hotel was the people: after spending too much time in the sun one day, I came back a little panicked about how poorly I was feeling, and every single person on staff went out of their way to help me to cool down and calm down. That level of gracious hospitality really sets a hotel apart from all others!

Tucked into a quiet square in the center of Tavira, the São Paulo Boutique Hotel is a beautifully restored 18th-century townhouse that blends Algarve charm with contemporary elegance. With just a handful of rooms, this boutique stay offers a peaceful, intimate experience. The hotel’s interiors include curated art pieces to create a serene, gallery-like ambiance. There is a lounge, complete with a record player and a variety of albums. The building’s historic character is preserved while offering all the comforts of modern hospitality. Monica was extremely helpful during our stay, making recommendations and offering assistance when needed. Though small, the hotel is well-equipped. There’s a charming courtyard with a plunge pool, perfect for cooling off after a day exploring Tavira. The breakfast is a highlight—served with care and featuring fresh, local ingredients, which we enjoyed in the peaceful garden setting. Situated on Praça Doutor António Padinha, the hotel is ideally located for exploring Tavira’s cobbled streets, Roman bridge, and riverside cafés. Despite being central, the area is quiet and relaxing, offering the best of both worlds. Nothing. Everything was absolutely perfect.

Sao Paolo has a beautiful aesthetic, great location and exceptionally kind and helpful staff. Mario ensured we had an early breakfast to accommodate our early morning flight. The suggestions for dinner and activities were perfectly aligned with our needs and interests. The only suggestions I have are that the bathroom in the loft room should have doors on both sides to provide privacy and the room could have better ventilation/more windows.

Lovely quirky decor and interesting books.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Architecture and decor of building very pleasing. Wonderful artwork too. Breakfast pretty good- especially lovely cakes! Very pretty rear courtyard garden. Lovely bed linen. Great location on main square beside pretty church, a good restaurant a few doors down, everything a walk away so car didn’t seem necessary. Awful view of building site from our pool view suite which we should have been told about in advance- luckily not too noisy atm but we were disappointed. There was limited headroom under the eaves especially one side and we often banged heads and shoulders at night. Our beautifully wide bed seemed shorter than normal as our feet hung off the end?!( we are only average height!) Whilst looking stylish, the bathroom lacked privacy being separated from the bed merely by a thin partition with no ceiling and a clear glass door which could bother some people.

Fell in love with Tavira on arrival and Sao Paulo Boutique Hotel was icing on the cake! Our room was beautifully and tastefully decorated, large and clean. The bathroom was especially nice for space, light and a great shower. Housekeeping missed something in their daily cleaning one day which I mentioned to our hosts and they had it corrected immediately. There is a lovely patio outside that we enjoyed most days. The hosts could not have been kinder and offered helpful suggestions for food and sites, arranging a ride from Tavira to Lisbon, and suggestions for restaurants, bars etc in Lisbon (thank you Mario). That we couldn’t stay longer!?

This is a really super location in the heart of Tavira, the attention to detail was great. The staff are very nice, very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast is continental so be aware of that, but the quality and quantity is 1st class. The building is something else, great art and lovely patio area. There was the slightest smell from the bathroom at times on the 1st day but this was so minor we didnt even report it.
