Hostel do Ceu

I stayed at the hostel for over a month. The team is super friendly, helpful, and basically the best you could ask for. The hostel is very clean and the pool is cleaned every day. Every Monday there is a great jamming session with cheap caipirinhas and food. The location is amazing — right on the main street. There is also a drop-off point for the van returning from Praia do Madeiro, and if you want to go there, you can catch one just a 4-minute walk from the hostel. Many people from different places come through, and the space near the pool is designed so that if you want to meet people you can easily do it, but if you need some quiet time, you can get that too. Super recommended.

The hostel is absolutely lovely and offers amazing amenities—there’s a pool, a BBQ area, two fully equipped kitchens, and even free concerts on Mondays. There are also sports activities happening on-site (not included), which add to the great atmosphere. The staff is outstanding—from reception to maintenance, everyone is friendly and helpful. I could honestly name all of them. I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a mix of nature, peace, and fun activities. Definitely worth staying here.

Great and welcoming staff

Overall the stay was ok, the location was good, the facilities were good and the common areas were really good. The lady from the reception was nice. Most people I met there were basically living there, and some of them acted like they own the place and treated me like an intruder, especially one Dutch girl in my dorm who stayed there for a while apparently and made me feel very unwelcome most of the time. So it was hard meeting fellow travelers/backpackers.

beautiful garden, wonderful swimming pool, great common space for cooking, eating, sitting and talking. Unfortunately every night I had to use earplugs to sleep because there are no windows in the windows, and in the common space, which is right next to the houses, often someone was sitting and talking loudly until the morning.

Great staff Very noisy

It was really beauty, lots of space s round the pool, kitchen, outdoor kitchen and dinning room. So you can be with everyone but also can find a spot to be alone if you need it. The staff is so kind and nice. The facilities are clean. The pool is very nice as well to lay around. The pool could be a little more clean but overall very okay to swim in it ! Really nothing to say it was perfect !

Staff trying to help where they can, cute cats & dogs, beautiful pool area, water filters and good location. When I booked the room I didn’t see that there were no window shields. So it was very loud (people next to the pool area partying until 1:30am / you hear everything your neighbors do, a bar behind the house playing music & in the morning the music at the pool before 8am). Additional to that, many mosquitos flew in and there was no net for protection. I moved out after one night. They wrote me on WhatsApp I get back 45% of my money for the remaining days I booked when I cancel on booking. After cancelling they said it wasn’t possible and I already wasted a week on texting with them. So annoying.

The building and surrounding grounds are very nice. Location is great, very close to the Main Street and restaurants/shops. The woman on reception was super nice and very helpful. Nice cats Unfortunately, it’s one of those hostels where it feels like you’re in the house of the volunteers who stay there, and your not really welcome. They have a group of volunteers there that feel it’s their house, impossible to use kitchen etc as they’re always in preparing food. In the rooms there are open vents with no netting / shutters, so there were many mosquitoes and I didn’t sleep well for being bitten all night. I would not recommend solo travellers to stay here. There are better hostels with a more inclusive, fun vibe for a similar price.

Great experience. We stay in a private room. It was so cute. Very clean and tidy. Amazing atmosphere. It so calm and breezy. The staff was so friendly. They really take great care of the place, there is always someone taking care of the garden. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a calm chill place to stay while you visit pipa.
