They didn’t allow for late checkout (for 1 extra hour the cost quoted was about $20 which was not acceptable). Most hotel chain have this flexibility when requested without additional charge.

Close to komagome station. Fast check in. Good breakfast. Breakfast only available from 7am. It it can be offered from 6.30am it would be better (especially when people staying at the hotel have to catch Shinkansen in the early morning).

No AC the heater made it almost unbearable

The breakfast was a bit limited, as they only offered 6 meals. If you don't eat beef or pork, you will have to let them know about it. However, they were really nice and helpful!

I stayed for 6 days and did not put the sign "Clean My Room" on the door as I did not need it cleaned. For 2 days the room was not cleaned which was fine but on the 3rd day, I stayed in until around 11AM; and the staff knocked on my door 3 times (for cleaning I guess) even though I did not request it and said no every time. I don't understand why they were so insistent on cleaning that day when I was in, when they never cleaned any other day when I was out.

The location and customer service

The location is pretty good, and it's really hard to beat the prices (probably the lowest I've seen for a hotel room in Tokyo, apart from capsule hotels or dorms). The staff is polite and understanding. The air conditioning units were chock full of black mold! To the point where I fully believe that it's dangerous to be in the room, especially for allergy- or asthma-prone people. The rooms are tiny, which is fine in general, but when you sleep, it means the air blows almost directly at you, so there is no way that you can avoid the spores. I am not scandalous: I just wanted a refund and to go across the street to stay the night at another hotel. The reception staff was nice: they admitted that the building was very old and that the chain is cutting corners on maintenance to keep the costs down. Under pressure from higher management, they first tried suggesting another room: before letting me inside, staff superficially wiped the surface of the AC (because of the way it's constructed you can't reach very deep inside), and asked if this is better. When I politely refused, they said they couldn't process my cancellation, citing that "it's impossible at this stage given the limitations of Booking.com". Eventually they caved in and refunded, but the overall tone was that it's an exception and they're doing me a favor (!) When getting a cheap hotel chain like APA, it's reasonable to expect _some_ negatives, but not to the point of something so fundamental. I'm considering filing a health code violation tip-off with the authorities.

Rooms are small. I Was alone so it Was okay. 2 people its gonna get cozy.

Easy access to train station and convenience stores e.g family mart right next to the hotel. There are many restaurants around the area on both sides of the hotel. Advance notice for cleaning on the TV screen. There is a use of AI which is quite useful for English speakers. House keeping is very good and they provide supplies daily irrespective of whether cleaning is due or not. We always had toothpaste, brush, washcloths etc. There were complimentary robes and slippers The elevator works very well Late check in at 15:00 and no provision for a sitting/waiting area in the hotel. There were no sits anywhere in the lounge-bizzare I feel that it would've been better if the staff had a digital translator so the dialogue between us in English was smoother Not many options for breakfast so you are limited. There was no tea option and the only drinks were coffee, water and barley water. The size of the room is small but if you made use of under bed storage for luggage, you create more space. I find that once you come into the room you cannot relax before going to bed because it's only one chair and there is hardly any space for 2 chairs anyway.

The room was clean and had many amenities. I got the breakfast which was a very nice Japanese style breakfast. The hotel is fairly close walking distance to the trains. Decent selection of restaurants around.
