Little Japan

The actual hostel rooms, though clean, were not the most comfortable. The beds felt stiff, and the pillow was as flat as the duvet. There was no set rules of lights out, or AC control, so the room was hot at times, cold at others, with the lights also sometimes staying on until 1am. The bathrooms also seemed to not have functioning AC, so using the bathroom or showering got a bit uncomfortable. As for the location, if someone was hoping to explore Asakusa and the surrounding areas, then this is a good place, otherwise, I'd recommend being closer to the city center.

Location is amazing. Very good access to Haneda airport. No elevetor. Narrow corridors and staires. Wired bathrooms. Blankets gave me some itchy rush. There is no proper space to do packings. I am quite sure that there are better places in Tokyo.

I had a very clean and quiet hostel experience at Little Japan. The staff is incredibly welcoming and friendly. Also, I thought that the mattress and bedding was super cozy and comfortable! n.a.

Location and the value. Being run down and modest are okay. No elevators, totally fine. All warned in advance. Whole place leeks of odor, mold… not really. I think Tokyo should inspect any establishment that house travelers more stringently. In so many levels the place was not up to any standard in this country. Staff were kids but they were fine. One with late night shift had a difficulty communicating in Japanese and I wasn’t too crazy about him trying giving me a lesson. The weirdest was on the first floor lounge there was a middle age salary man sleeping on the couch with food and booze wide open snoring so hard that sound traveled all the way to the 2nd floor, making the first floor lounge unusable. Stayed on the 2nd floor. Bed was uncomfortable, sheets felt uncleaned. Bed space wasn’t really functional. Co-ed shower was 2 flights up. The place was cheap. But personally I cannot justify going back.

Great place and a very good stay. Good for meeting people. The owner was very nice and accommodating.

Home vibes and very comfortable

Only narrow stairs to carry your luggages up. Bed curtain was broken. Room light was on all night. Ceiling and floor are very worn and didn't have proper flooring in my room. Only 1 outlet available on my bed. It's not their fault but someone else was sleeping on the bed I was assigned to when I arrived, so I had to switch to a random bed. No towels or slippers and no space to put the luggage in the room.

The location of this stay is great! as I recommend going to check out the cafe down stairs!

there was plenty of space in the dorms, and the beds were very comfortable and pretty large, the location is good as well, and the staff was really friendly when I was checking in it’s a bit old and can sometimes feel a little dusty simply because it is an older building even though I know it is clean and having the showers on the fourth floor with no elevator was something I wish they had

Cheap, and the staff were nice. The place was messy. Since the living area is right outside the room, the smell of food can get inside the room giving the room a funky smell. No elevators.

The dorm had 8 beds with a sofa and we had a whole living room with a kitchen just for urself. So it was a good place to meet people and chat. Also they have some evening event if you like parties.

No one helps with carrying bags all the way up (no elevator). Rooms are tiny and noisy. The lounge is so small and always occupied with people sleeping/eating there. You have to pay for everything including a towel (yes yes) Wouldn't stay here again even for free

1) The location is great. I was able to get by foot to Sensou-ji Temple, Akihabara shopping district, Ueno Park, Emperor's Palace, Tokyo Skytree and even Meiji shrine (the last promenade to and fro, though, took me almost an entire day, but still). The building itself is located in a quiet neighborhood and is a stone's throw away from a station on the line that goes from Haneda airport to Narita airport, which is very convenient. 2) The staff are super friendly. There are Japanese and non-Japanese staff members. From what I understood, one was from Canada, one was from France, one was from Spain, and one was from Germany. They are people in their early-to-mid twenties who are there on a work-and-travel visa, and they seem to be keen on sharing their experiences about Japan with one another and with guests. On the other hand, there were several times where I saw guests having a conversation with Japanese staff members in Japanese. Also, it turned out that one of the Japanese staff also spoke Spanish. So, if you're looking to connect to other people, Little Japan may be a good fit for you, no matter the language. 1) There were several different occasions where I would think to myself: I wish this place had a liiiitle more space. 2) I didn't like the state some things were in (e.g. the floor in my dormitory, or parts of the walls near the ceiling in some rooms). Neigher is a dealbreaker, but these were concerns that led me not to choose one of the places in the as-cheap-as-you-can-get category, so I can't help but feel a little bit underwhelmed.
