I was disappointed by the lack of flexibility and customer care at APA Hotel. I paid for breakfast during my stay, but on my second day I had to leave very early for a hike and couldn't attend breakfast. I politely asked the staff if they could prepare a simple takeaway breakfast box since I had already paid for the meal. My request was immediately declined without any attempt to find a solution or show empathy. Even if it wasn't hotel policy, I would have appreciated some effort or willingness to help. What disappointed me most wasn't the refusal itself, but the complete lack of understanding. It felt like I was dealing with robots rather than people who genuinely care about their guests. Since the breakfast had already been paid for, I expected a much more customer-oriented approach. I hope APA Hotel considers giving its staff more flexibility to handle reasonable requests like this in the future.

Cleanliness and location Need more laundry machine

They found double booking of my reseravation but they took care immediately with full refund cancellation. Great servie and nice staff. Bed is comfortable and all the hotels are very clean.

Great location, walking distance to Otsuka station. Room was extremely small. Washroom was small.

The management is obviously trying to cut as many costs as possible, but unfortunately, they are crossing the line. The room was too small even by Japanese standards (basically, it was just a bed). There was no amenities bar in the lobby, and no shaving cream in the room. They only clean the rooms without a request once every three days, and the only way to find this out is to read the information on the TV (or to come back to the hotel and find your garbage still in the bin). And honestly, that was the most unimpressive breakfast rice I’ve ever had at a Japanese hotel. This was my first and definitely my last experience with the APA chain.

Great location for stores and restaurants Elegant and simple

Hotel onsen Luggage storage only for a few hours on the check out day only. Went to Hakone for 2 days then return to same hotel for another 2 days, not allow to store our luggage for 2 days in storage so need to pay extra 2 days room charge. Clothes washing & dryer machine limited.

I wish the bathtub allowed people with tattoos. That was very unfortunate and, if I were to pick a hotel for next time, I'd probably check this first.

Location and the spa Nothing
-
Location The room has a bad smell and I stayed 10 day the cleaners never change our glasses.

The only thing that was a bummer was the elevator issue, which I knew about before I got to the hotel. that is the reason i gave this hotel an 8 and not a 9. the elevators are almost always busy, and what's strange is that only 3 of the 4 elevators are working. It's not clear why they don't upgrade the issue to solve it and then the reviews will be perfect. In addition, you're not allowed to enter the spa with tattoos, which is crazy to me. After all, this is Tokyo.

I love the location of this property, very close to the Yamanote line. The washer and dryers were always in use, we had to fight to use it.

Very clean and organized, close to a metro station

We stayed there for 3 nights and I feel that it was a waste of resources to provide fresh towels and pajama everyday. Since it is such a short stay, I suggest to save those amenities for “Per Trip” so for environmental protection. Or have them “On Demand” if anyone needs flesh / clean one everyday.

Good location, very close to the train station and close to a Lawson/7eleven. Sunshine city is also within walking distance (around 12 minutes) which is amazing. We were on the 16th floor so our view was pretty good. Loved that. Laundry facility is awful. I think there were 4 washing machines and 4 dryers, which sounds like a good amount until you think about the amount of people and rooms in this hotel (20 floors). We had to wait a very long time before we could do our laundry (this was after 22:00). The dryer is pretty bad as well, maybe because we only did 30 minutes of drying (didn't have that many clothes), but it was like 60% dry and 40% wet. I had hang all the clothes around my room so it could dry overnight. The coin laundries close by the hotel were all full as well, so that was not an option.

I’ve booked two bed one room and I booked it with 12 year-old. They said they adjusted and they came out and told me that I put zero years old and that makes me uncomfortable.

The location is good, hotel is easily accessible, the tv in the room provides good info if you click around. There are sufficient outlets in the room as well as decent amenities. The rooms are very small normal for Tokyo but might be challenging for people coming from overseas.

Hygiene comes first for me and I stayed comfortably without worrying about it. Clean towels, yukatas and new amenities are provided every day, the room is tiny but has everything you need. The location is also pretty convenient, 4-5 min to Otsuka Station which is on Yamanote Line bringing you directly to popular spots like Shinjuku, Shibuya, Akihabara etc. The staff was kind and helpful. The rooms are tiny, but I guess that is a given when you are in Tokyo. The laundry room could have been bigger with more machines, there is a line in the evening. And there is no currency exchange service in the hotel or anywhere nearby (You need to go to Ikebukuro) so be prepared. But these are minor things for me and I'd definitely consider staying here again.
