Kainoa Guesthouse

The place only missed a full-size mirror (probably more of a preference for me), but that's pretty much it.

Clean, quiet, and spacious rooms with gigantic comfortable beds. The owners are able to speak English and are very accommodating if you need help. This place is on par with hotels that cost 2x as much! My only complaint would be that you don’t get towel replacements unless you contact the owners to ask for more. If you’re ok with reusing the same towel this won’t be an issue for you; but if you do need new towels for health or hygiene reasons be sure to let the owners know in advance.

Everything was great for us no complaints.

Close to JR Otsuka Station, has various konbini's and a supermarket close by. Even if the last train final stop is Ikebukuro, it's still easy to get to by walking. Room was clean and just as pictured. There was refresh of towels and room cleaning halfway through my stay. Would love to stay here again next time in Japan.

Blackout curtains didn't lay against the wall so a bit of street light came in. We were on the ground floor so there was a bit of noise when other guests entered but it was quick and not so bothersome

The area is tranquil yet easy accessible. JR to everywhere or take the traditional-style tram Toden-Arakawa line that is some different experience. The Kinenyu Sauna nearby is a must try. Nothing. It even has a lift that is rare. Maybe the little slope when trying to reach the hotel from train station, but not a problem for me.

It was well maintained and had everything we needed. Nothing as such about the property, the walk from the subway station was a bit uphill which made it difficult to walk to and from the hotel.

This is a lovely guest house. The rooms were clean and well- equipped with a spacious bathroom and shower. Yuko was a friendly, helpful and generous host. She was especially kind to our 7 year old son. There was an honesty snack bar at the front door with cheap products and beautiful origami decorations in the hallway. We absolutely loved our stay at Kainoa and will definitely stay there next time we visit Tokyo. It’s not the most central location to the main tourist destinations but there’s several train stations within a short walk and Ueno Park is only a few stops away.

Superbly comfortable bed, great vibes, everything provided for having breakfast or even a microwave meal. Very private. There is a coin laundry on the corner. The location is great as well-- a quiet neighborhood well connected to the train line. I would definitely come back.

Well maintained. Fresh feel - newly renovated. Great bathroom and shower. Easy access with great communication from staff. Oh and it has Netflix. Which is a great to mellow the kids out after long days Nothing

I liked the free instant coffee packs provided :) the shower was also quite comfortable No baby cot available

The rooms are very large for Japan. Honestly it was nice to be able to fit our luggage and walk around as well as an easy to connect to TV and adjustable lighting with a knob. Shower was very spacious. The owners are both lovely. It's a family ran business and they still do everything to accommodate you. I ran out of toilet roll at night and they went out of their way to bring me extra. Location is great. 10 mins from the Otsuka station and right next to a 7/11. I will be staying with them in the future. No complaints.

We received exact instructions with pictures ahead of check-in, making it very easy to find the place. Nick provided excellent tips on the surrounding area - where to eat and jog etc. The extra touches like coffee and tea and bottled water, some hanging space for clothes were nice after a long journey. It was clean and comfortable, close to a train station. Everything was perfect.

The location is perfect. The room was spotless and spacious. We felt really welcomed.

I never received check in instructions ahead of time, I had to ask a staff there and it seems like they forgot but helped us check in really quickly.
