Delicious breakfast. Nice clean room. I was just a solo traveler on a bicycle tour but I was forced to take a twin room so the cost was quite expensive - over ¥13,000.

DO NOT BOOK IF YOU WANT A NONSMOKING HOTEL You could not pay me to stay here again. Everything was so dirty and smelled like cigarette smoke, the housekeepers seem to only replace the towels and sheets, the room had so much hair and dust.

The location was very good: about 25 minutes' walk from the train station straight down the main road (or 10 min on the bus) and very close to the main Orion shopping street and large mall, as well as cocktail bars and many restaurants, including those specializing in gyoza that the city is famous for. The big and surprisingly serene Futaarayama shinto shrine is between the hotel and the train station. The Japanese-style breakfast was a standout: beautiful, varied, delicious and filling. The bathtub was deep and very relaxing, and the bed was firm and comfortable with fresh, new linens. Although the bed and furniture were clean, the walls were very scuffed and gave an impression of shabbiness which is otherwise not true. I know this is an older hotel and that's OK: I still had a good stay, but some maintenance like painting or detailing the walls will make a better impression.

The location was perfect. The room was quiet. I could turn off lights and see a clock from my bedside. There was no wait for elevators nor did I need to wait to check in or check out. I expected tea bags to be in the room but they were at the front desk. There was no mention of a breakfast option when I checked in. Probably they were nervous because I am not Japanese so they did not try to communicate much to me. The desk space is very narrow for work and I could not find an outlet to recharge phone near bedside. Maybe normal, but I gave up using the fridge because of the hum it makes.

Comfortable bed, quiet room, good wifi, nice japanese breakfast : the basics are well covered, and in a good spot. The bathroom is really compact.

Staff were very kind, the room was perfect size for solo traveler, location right next to the main “Orion Street” night spots and bars. Nothing!
