the staff is nice, the views from the hill are cool, it's right next to a funicular. the pictures look nicer than how it actually is. everything just feels so old, all the furniture is old, the breakfast is minimal (bread, yogurt, jello, coffee). it's hard to get in and out of the premises because you need to be buzzed in and out and there is not always a person there to receive the buzz

I keep going back to Chalet Suizo. Excellent price to benefit ratio. Included great breakfast, it is clean, and always kind staff. Cozy place, reminder of older Viña del Mar times.

The site is nice but definitely showing its age. To be fair, all of Viña Del Mar is showing its age. Need hooks and hangers in the closets. The WiFi in rooms was non-existent and barely good in the common areas. Our room TV had cable but barely visible because of snow. Having to ring the staff to let us in or out of the property was inconvenient but ultimately not a big deal. As mentioned elsewhere in this site, there are a lot of steps to get from the entrance to the main areas of the hostel. We actually liked this because we enjoyed the exercise.
