We booked a night at the Sonesta Simply Suites for the night and checked-in around 9:30pm. Check in went smoothly, but we immediately noticed that the hotel hallways and elevator were filthy on our way to our room. Upon entering the room assigned we noticed an odd smell. The room did not smell clean and we very quickly noticed that the room was so disgustingly dirty. It was clear that the room had not been cleaned in a very long time. The table was filled with sticky residue from old drinks. The fridge had old bloody stains from meat, toothpaste was all over the sink in the bathroom, the couch was extremely dirty, and the floor was filled with someone's old sunflower seed shells. The small table in the living room was also filled with old food crumbs from previous guests. We were appalled by the condition of the room and the building altogether. We could not stay the night in such a disgusting place. We left shortly after arrival and complained at the front desk before leaving to find other accomodations. This hotel needs new management and a better cleaning crew. Do not be deceived by the ratings or the pictures online. Fine accomodations elsewhere!!

I overheard an employee say there will be a remodel starting in the fall. It is overdue for this. Im guessing it will be much better once this happens. Bed and bathroom very clean! Kitchen counters clean. Dishes and other kitchen items unusable or not available. Staff was helpful with the very limited supplies they were given to work with. Parking great. Area felt safe. This place just needs some updating and restocking.

Room was clean, but quite worn. The dishes were terrible, crusty glasses and plates. It appears that harsh dishwasher detergents and no rinse agents are used. When I reported the issue to the front desk I was given one stemless wine glass and one extra large coffee cup and told to rewash the dishes. Rewashing failed to fix the issue. Additionally, the kitchen outlets were not working. The hotel often smelled like marijuana that the staff attempted to use air fresheners to mask. The laundry room was stacked with abandoned laundry in various states of cleanliness. No laundry baskets were provided for us. A remodel is definitely in order as well as proper dishwashing products.

The location, price were great. The room could have been cleaner. Things need to be wiped off, drips on walls, etc. Rinse the floor after you mop do it isn’t sticky. Make sure drawers don’t have food crumbs in them.

The front desk clerk was friendly and check-in went smoothly. The room was quite dirty. There were clumps of long dark hair in the shower, around the toilet, in the sink, and even on in the inside of the bedding. The carpet clearly had not been vacuumed in a long time. I didn't have socks, just sandals with me, and I had to eventually put my sandals on because there was so much debris sticking to my feet from the carpet. There were also fingerprints and grease all over the desk/counter area. Lastly, there were dogs in the room next to us and the room next to them. Any time we opened/closed our door or made a peep, the dog next to us would bark loudly.

No breakfast. Location difficult to find. Front desk people were pleasant. Dirty room. Had not been vacuumed, dirty dishes in dishwasher (had been there for a long time!), no light bulbs in lights! Only soap in bathroom was shampoo and conditioner, bathroom had not been cleaned from previous guest, no recliner chair, only chair was a desk chair that was not in good condition and should have been replaced, requested shower soap and light bulbs after 1st night - they were not there for the 2nd night, door key did not work 2nd night, ice maker turned on 1st night and never did make ice. No coffee maker. TV screen full of fingerprints from previous guest. All around poor experience. I will never stay at another Sonesta property!

Room needs to be better cleaned

Toilet flooded first time used, only urinated. Laminated/tile floors were slippery and the room was overwhelmed with the smell of pinesol. Previous guests hair all over bathroom floor.

The whole hotel smelled like smoke and was not clean, and it needs a remodel. I was surprised this was Sonesta because other locations do not look like this or smell like it.

The staff was not very accommodating at all. The bathtubs were extremely slippery as there were no mats or rubber strips on the bottom of the tub. I am a 71-year-old woman, and on the last day I slipped and fell in the tub and hurt my knee and my rib. The manager Rafael told me he would credit me two nights and never did. I would hope if this happened to his mother or grandmother; someone would be more accommodating and empathetic. It’s been three weeks and I am still so sore.

The Sonesta Simply Suites is conveniently located, close to Interstate, within 10 minute drive to downtown Naperville, and multiple retail centers. I was especially pleased with the hotel being clean and affordable. Valerie B

We arrived and were told the rooms are only cleaned every two weeks. This is an extended stay property. No toilet tissue or paper towels in room. Dirty dishes in the dishwasher. Closet, but no clothes hangers. Ironing board, no iron. Large yellow spot on sheet. Very little soap, shampoo and conditioner. No way to contact management. We were told the manager would contact us at 8 in the morning- we left at 8:30, no contact with management at all.

The hotel is practising fraud, my credit card was charged extra $64.64 and no explanation to why. I have called the hotel more 20 times no response, no one is picking but each time when i chose the option for new booking someone is picking. Booking.com could not get hold off the hotel either. Don't leave your card details for the security deposit that how i get charged for nothing. Also The air conditioning in the first room i was in was not working then i was change to i dirty room that i had to clean the bathroom myself. avoid them. Fraudsters, i would have gone back there to collect my money if i was living in chicago. Fraudsters. The mattress is just spring, very bad. Body ache everyday. Also no cleaning service for the first 14days.

For the price, this is a good hotel. Clean, quiet, comfortable beds. We stayed 4 nights and had two rooms for a visit with family. One room had a shower that wouldn’t work without some encouragement (at the desk they said maintenance comes during the week— we checked in on a Friday). The other room had a run-on toilet unless you jiggled the handle. Neither is a deal breaker. Kitchens not well appointed (pepper, no salt; no pans in one room), but again, nothing we couldn’t work around, just be prepared. Overall good experience and excellent price.
