The oaklands hotel

Pleasant grounds, easy check in, food was excellent and rooms clean and well appointed. Cannot think of anything that was an issue.

English breakfast was very good , but no fruit , nice comfortable lounge area , good parking , staff very helpful They hold parties in the same area around the bar as residents , we weren’t told the restaurant was not open the second night we believe due to a party , also they woke us at 1.30 am banging on adjacent doors and shouting at the top of their voices . Be careful of the solid wood bed frame which is easy to stub your foot on

Spacious and quirky property. Good value for money, especially with the free buffet on Friday evening. Decent breakfast. Didn’t have air conditioning & it was hot weather during our stay!

Beautiful location. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were large. Wonderful views. It was very warm.

Staff were friendly and made you feel welcome. Was out the way so very quiet and peaceful. The room wasn’t very clean, had cobwebs in multiple places, bathroom had mould around the bath so didn’t use. Bed wasn’t very comfy, mattress seemed old and had dents in so you’d roll to the middle. Wouldn’t say it was worth £100 a night given location and room.

Breakfast was late because the staff member had a car failure. Better mattress

Very friendly staff, very good ambiance. Old building which has kept the old building feel. Nice grounds well kept. The free buffet on Friday evening was a nice touch. We thought the drinks were reasonably priced but we are used to London Prices. Our friends from the local area thought they were a little expensive. Room we had was clean tidy and with enough room for us. Good facilities for a 3 star hotel. No air conditioning but a fan was provided which was very handy as it was hot. Breakfast was good and served when we wanted it. Driving out onto the road there was a slightly blind bend on the right. We could also have done without the fire alarm going off at 3:30 am. We got to the bottom of the stairs before we were informed it was a false alarm. But these things happen.

I had a very comfortable stay, and the staff were most accommodating. Beautiful surroundings. 6.30am wake-up call of plane taking off from Manchester airport!

It wasn't too busy considering the football was on. The staff were friendly and chatty. The room was very hot but not surprising in the summer heat we have had.

we arrived to book in and the car park was empty, we entered the hotel which looked almost abandoned outside. on entering there was no reception or staff, there were dead flies, dust and webs, in the lounge, cushions had been left on the floor, the bar was shattered and there were empty glasses and bottles around. There was clearly no one around so we made the decision to leave as we really didn't want to see what the rooms looked like. Just as we were about to drive off, someone came up to the car to ask if we were booking in, we said no, we didn't want to spend £100 for a room here, he said ok and left and so did we.

Disappointing

It was in a great location and peaceful. The bar and pub food was lovely and a breakfast was included. The chef cooked me scrambled eggs and was really accommodating. I could not find the hairdryer but I had taken my own.

Great value for money. Comfortable room, dog friendly. Staff so nice , nice buffet provided on arrival and good breakfast included. Restaurant closed so no other food options available.
