Pretty, comfortable and private onsen Staff could’ve been more friendly. It was awkward communicating with them at times.

We love the relax ambience. All things are well organised. We also like the private onsen arrangement. Staff are friendly. They use translation tools to help with communication. Dinner & breakfast are delicious & interesting. All good with us

I was not expecting much to be honest, just wanted an onsen in room. The food was good and room was huge. It had two living areas, tatami sleeping area and also a room with 5 twin beds. It is perfect for coming with a big family. The room was a bit dingy and some furniture did smell. So, it did not feel very clean but not to the point where it was very bad.

The breakfast was great very Japanese traditional style bit location wise a bit further from Yufuin station. Although walkable distance but was quite hard pushing the lugguage uphills. Overall was happy with our stay, though the interior was slightly old but room was spacious. Great Ryokan for kids to run around in tatami room.

Ryokan Fukinoya is an exceptionally wonderful place to stay. The staff members were very gracious, the meals were amazing, and the accommodations were beautiful and comfortable. We loved our private onsen. We can't rave enough about Ryokan Fukinoya, definitely a highlight of our trip!

The staff is superb. Very helpful even through the language barrier. Was able to book an entire house for just myself with a view of Mount Yufu. The house has two living rooms (one traditional sitting on floor, and one with a couch), a bedroom, a bathroom, and a private onsen that you can control the amount of hot water coming in. You get a private onsen attached to the house, as well as access to 4 other onsens. The Largest and nicest one is reservation based so you reserve a time slot and have the entire bathhouse to yourself/group. There are three smaller onsen with a wooden sign on the outside to indicate in-use or available, just flip it to in-use when you go in and you can lock the door. The baths were very relaxing and helped with muscle soreness and fatigue. Can make it hotter by adding more hot spring water or colder with a faucet and hose. The view of Mount Yufu is wonderful in the morning with the morning mist and chilly brisk air. Yufuin is a very small town so you can walk around most of it and explore. It is very countryside and if you want to get away from city life for a bit I think this is a great option. The dinner and breakfast were delicious and comprehensive. It is made with local ingredients and tastes delicious. There were many dishes some of which were more of an acquired taste which wasn't for me but I liked the meals overall. Staff will inform you about 5 minutes before your chosen meal time that the food is ready and will bring out food throughout the meal. You can also order drinks during dinner like sake, beer, or juice. The beds are futons which isn't a bad thing as that goes with the theme of the traditional ryokan stay. The futons were comfortable with a nice thick comforter on top to keep you nice and warm, I'm just old and my back is picky. I enjoyed it just not for me every day lol

Nice location away from the main street. Lovely building. Good service with privacy during baths and meals. Food was delicious.

The dinner and breakfast were delicious. The staff were nice. They tried their best to communicate us with Google translate. It was a bit far from Yufuin station. I took taxi to go to the hotel.
