Hotel Kernhof Self Check-In

I do NOT recommend this place. There are MANY crimes at a short distance from the unit; unsafe to walk even at mid day. Police activity is rampant and pan handling is common. This is not disclosed by Booking.com.

Extremely hot, sketchy area, rickety fan, non functioning TV, stained walls

Surprisingly clean rooms. Simple decor, no clutter. The neighborhood is bit seedy. Self checking guide did not reach me after my reservation. I had to ask it - the response was super fast though and all got sorted out immediately. For support, there was QR code on the door, linking to WhatsApp.

Bed and the shower were good The description of the hotel had "parking" as part of their amenities, but there was none, and had to park my car in a parking some distance away (10 mins walk). This was very unfortunate, as this was the main reason i booked this place. Tried to communicate with the hotel through booking app and didn't received any answer. The sockets in the wall were small, so some rounded big plugs didn't fit. The hotel has no elevator, so if you get the room at the top (as i did), it becomes a nice exercise to step up 5 floors everytine.

This is in the red light district so there is late night partying and it can feel unsafe after dark. We never had any issues but I would plan accordingly. About a 20-30 min walk to old town or the train station

Shower somewhat broken. Table light bulb missing. Somewhat smelly room.

Simple check in and guidance from staff. All clear and clean. Not far from train station, just a 15 min walking. Place is quite.

Lots of noise at night coming from bars and degenerates in the area.

I like the room only and clean Thier property it’s uncomfortable to stay it’s scared me you cannot go out if you want too most at night too much people are drunk and very noisy screaming yelling and scared me they even approached of something then if there is police they run infront of you then we go out sometimes not too early cause they still drinking in the bar sorry I think cannot comeback anymore

Just clean and basic Unexpected location! I don’t even know how booking.com, allowed this to be posted?! Unfortunately, my experience was very negative. The hotel’s location feels unsafe, with the presence of prostitutes and drug-related activity around. After midnight there was constant noise and shouting, making it very difficult to rest. Some people even approached offering inappropriate services inside the hotel. This place is not suitable at all, especially for families. I do not recommend staying here.

It was one of the cheaper hotels in Zurich. Easy do it yourself check-in. We didn’t know the location was in the middle of the nightlife area. It can be loud at night and also when we were walking to the hotel there appeared to be a lot of strip clubs or something around which doesn’t bother us but it feels like a seedy part of town. Also since it is a self-check in type hotel there aren’t always staff to ask questions. It appears more equipped for the winter than for summer because the fan we had didn’t work the greatest we were very hot at night. Also be careful when using the hot water in the shower I burned my hand on the metal handle.

This hotel has no air conditioner, don't book it during summer time, it is almost imposible to sleep there.

Their transparency in communication. The self checkin was smooth. The room hasone fridge!! So my fruit cup was able to store overnight. Some bars are around so for people sensitive to noise may need consider it

Nothing! was very bad Experience in this hotel ,i payed for 2 nights 313€ waa not clean room service was 0 they not changed our bed covers second night ,and this is hotel in vey bad location because lor of junkies peoples around the hotel , for this is hotel price for one night maximum 50€ ,guys dont go there its not good choice, unfortunately In the pictures it looks clean but in reality it is not, I do not recommend booking this hotel at all

Well positioned between the center and the train station. Lovely 2 star budget hotel. Nice and clean though. Tiny bed!

The staying was good, it's a small suite but enough for a single person or a couple. I must point out though that the hotel is located on a area with a intense nightlife which it's not exactly a problem for me but it can be for some. Because I went in the summer I wanted to keep the windows open in the night but due to the loud music on the nearby clubs I had them closed which was okay as they have a fan available but that might not be the most comfortable for every person. They have a kettle, teabags and some chocolate which was a nice addition. The room was clean except for under the bed. The bathroom is good and with a good shower. The location it's at the hottest spot of Zurich's nightlife and very close to the center (around 1km to the train station).
