Very close to everything and lively but didn’t feel overcrowded.

It is an older place with smaller rooms and no air con. It was warmer weather when we stayed there, so air con would have helped a lot at night. We opened windows, but there are no screens and so mosquitos were a bit of a problem being so close to canal.

Great location and the staff were friendly and amazing!!! I run hot so a mini split in the Summer might be helpful but the fan saved my life!

The steep stairs would be a challenge for some, but you get used to them

Fabulous location(I guess that’s what we’re paying for?), super friendly front desk staff. Comfy beds. Room was clean, but overall too pricey for what the room was-also-noisy from rooms within the hotel, some burnt out lightbulbs in the room. Very nice place but still v.overpriced for what it is

    No AC, no refrigerator

I prefer to have a separate sheet and blanket rather than a combination of the two. The sink was a little small, was challenging to shave.

Our stay at this hotel was one of the highlights of our time in Amsterdam. Traveling with a group of eight, we reserved two rooms, and Room 401 was truly exceptional. It felt like the best room in the hotel, complete with steps just outside where we could sit, relax, and enjoy the beautiful canal views. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome. After an overnight flight from the United States, we arrived well before check-in and greatly appreciated being able to store our luggage while we explored the city. Rasmus, Ebony, and Larissa were especially outstanding—warm, attentive, and genuinely committed to making our stay memorable. The location could not have been better. Situated on a picturesque canal near the Anne Frank House, the hotel is within walking distance of many of Amsterdam’s most popular attractions. We were even able to take a direct train from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport to Amsterdam Centraal Station and comfortably walk to the hotel. As a historic property, the hotel has plenty of character, including some steep staircases in the main building. However, the staff happily assisted with luggage, making it a non-issue for our group. A thoughtful touch was the complimentary beverage offered upon arrival. The hot chocolate quickly became a favorite and was the perfect welcome after our journey. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. Between the outstanding hospitality, charming atmosphere, and unbeatable location, it exceeded our expectations in every way. Honestly, very little. The only thing to note is that the historic building has steep stairs, which could be difficult for some guests. The staff was happy to help with luggage, so it wasn’t an issue for us.

Such a cool and fun place to stay...ANYONE who writes a bad review because of the stairs is an IDIOT. The hotel specifies that they do not have elevators. They CANNOT put one in... it's a historic building! Right on the canal, a very short walk to the Central Station... it's just amazing. Super nice, helpful and fun staff. Walking distance to everything.... it's just a wonderful place to stay. Plan on a lot of walking or biking in this city ANYWAYS, so hoofing up a floor or 2 to your room is REALLY not a big deal. I actually really enjoyed the stairs, it adds to the experience. So much fun....I would absolutely stay there again, and for reference, we were in the VERY, TIPPY TOP room that looks out over the canals. Room 111. :) One of my favorite places I've stayed in Europe. There really wasn't anything I didn't like about it... they even have umbrellas by the front door for guests to use! Above and beyond.

Cool property with a fun energy. Nice breakfast and greatly appreciated the welcome drink after a long bike ride. It was a great way to end our week traveling in the Netherlands! Nothing. We were fine with lots of stairs (it’s the norm here), but be aware.

This charming hotel is in an excellent location to many attractions and the train station. The staff was helpful and courteous. It was a nice choice for our one night stay. The stairs are a bit steep and small, so please note that before you book.

Great location, central but not too busy and loud. Beautiful canal view from our cute room. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Lobby with bar and breakfast area is very pretty too.

  • Engine customer May 2026

Excellent location , 20 min walking distance from all main attractions and great canal views. Zero complaints

  • Engine customer May 2026

Great property! Staff was friendly and very helpful, room was nice and view was great. The decorated for our anniversary and you get free welcome drinks! The stairs were crazy but that’s just part of the authenticity.

  • Engine customer May 2026

Central location in the Canal District. Very walkable to many attractions. Well maintained a beautiful hotel with a the friendliest staff.

  • Engine customer May 2026

Great location. Attractive building. Very small rooms. Poor lighting in rooms and bathrooms. Overpriced breakfast buffet with few options and very slow to replenish.

  • Engine customer Apr 2026

Stairs very narrow and hard to navigate. I opted out of less expensive options for staying in a small boutique hotel, but this property is excessively expensive for the room and experience.

  • Engine customer Apr 2026

    No outlets in the bathroom.

  • Engine customer Apr 2026

location and staff climbing to the 3rd floor!

  • Engine customer Mar 2026

Location and staff Super noisy in the morning. Staff dumping glass bottles every morning outside the room at 6am. Tiny room.
