Had complete restaurant and beautiful view of a canal plus swimming!
-
Very charming, my room was a good size and it stayed breezy and cool while the heatwave was happening. Nothing~
-
Nice location, no noisy roads around Very clean and quiet They gave us enough keys, there was a ventilator in the room, and a hairdryer ? and enough clean towels Too old fashioned, which is not exactly my thing, but the style is just my personal preference

Very friendly and accommodating staff. Restaurant was excellent!

Pension Homeland is a quirky mid-century modern styled hotel, with fabulous decor. Located right next to a park, and sitting on the edge of a canal waterway, the property seems more like a resort setting than two tramway stops from the Centraal Amsterdam. Great staff who made the stay more enjoyable. Breakfast whilst not included in my room rate, the chosen meals were substantial. The nearest tram stop to Centraal Amsterdam was less than 10 minutes' walk. As the hotel is heritage listed, no air-conditioning is available. My stay was during the recent heat wave, which made the room difficult to enjoy / sleep during the night. During cooler weather, it would be fine.

Friendly, helpful staff in the bar, restaurant and at reception. Loved the in house beer and food. Very clean room. Really nice location near the water. Loved meeting the cat 'Amy Winehouse'!

Walk 15 minutes from Centraal Station. A relaxed environment as the property is located in a park on the water. Slept well. Modern WC. Restaurant and bar downstairs. Near to transit, supermarket, bakery. Friendly staff. Small kitchenette on each floor with tea and coffee. Reasonably priced. The natural environment is wonderful but it's a little removed from the old center. Rooms are small.

Very friendly, fun-loving, and accommodating staff from the front desk to the restaurant/bar areas. Excellent customer service focus on the comfort of their guests. My stay co-incided with their Afro-Groove Jam Night -- a fun treat! Their brewery pub has ongoing musical venues. Located next to a designated swimming area off a canal. It attracts many younger folk which adds to its festive, informal vibe. Clean room with updated modern bathroom. I used restaurant only once and only ordered some tasty soup. It was a fixed menu of limited choices but of high quality and it looked like locals dined their which is always a good sign. IMO, Pension Homeland should appeal to travelers who appreciate a laid-back vibe with low fuss but supported by the staff with proactive concern for their guests. 8.99 It is a little too removed from the nightlife of Amsterdam unless you use Uber or similar services on your return. Otherwise, day travel is easy with a bike (PH has rentals), walking, or nearby bus and train. I heard the old fashioned elevator has some days it does not want to work. Assuming you healthy, take the stairs.

Rather old. Poor HVAC. Worn furnishing

We loved our stay here. The staff are superb, really helpful and friendly. The inside of the property has real character, the bar and dining areas are fun and comfortable. Our rooms, although a little dated, were large, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent and although we didn't eat here in the evening, the food coming from the kitchen looked great. The location is very good too, just a 20 minute walk to Central Station and right next to the Nemo Science museum and The Maritime museum with lots of restaurants close by and a brewery on site. The final bonus for me was the beautiful house cat ? called Amy Housewine Nothing

The breakfast was good. It was hot in Amsterdam at the time of our visit and our rooms had no air conditioning. We had a fan but that didn’t help much. Our rooms were on the third floor facing the sun. The rooms were very hot during the day so hot that we couldn’t stay in them. We would stay out as late as we could so our rooms maybe be a bit cooler. The park next to the hotel is used by everyone who wants to swim in the outdoor swimming pool; so it was very loud each night due to the parting and the people would leave a mess behind each morning.

Elevator was very slow and not always working. Would not recommend for anyone with mobility issues.

The shower gets the whole bathroom wet

Really really out of the way. Nothing around it. Had to uber to get anywhere.

location and ambiance Expensive

Affordable; Great place with a lovely restaurant with views; amazing staff; comfortable room; serious breakfast. Highly recommended Hard to fault anything. Would love a gym and a faster elevator - but that is nitpicking. One of my favourite stops in Europe

Amazing retro vibe of the hotel.

It is in the park of many activities. One can see what people in Amsterdam live. Beautiful scenery. Room faces the setting sun & becomes very hot in the afternoon.
