Authentic Farmhouse - De Vergulden Eenhoorn

Very centrally located. Delightful to have the restaurant on property especially after long days of travel. Did not dislike, but would have appreciated a small hand towel for the second bath and a mat for the bathroom floor downstairs.

The grounds were so fun with outdoor areas to sit, eat & enjoy a beer/ cocktail. The manager Deene was beyond helpful! Loved the the ease of neighboring metro stations & quaintness of this historic building Loved everything!

Charming setting in a lovely garden with an excellent restaurant. The hotel portion is set in a historic, well-designed converted barn with very comfortable beds, good showers, and easy access to local transit. The metro is five minutes away and convenient. The hotel borders on a canal so the walk to and from is pleasant and scenic. The staff are helpful and accessible. The restaurant is a huge plus--it's very popular so book on the weekends for lunch and dinner. Be aware of how busy the restaurant is on the weekend so book ahead. There were no noise issues at all, however, despite the happy families and gatherings. And the food is very good.

Close to metro stations (about a 5-10 min walk). There is a restaurant/bar on site for lunch and dinner. Staff is lovely and property is gorgeous! We were a family of 4 adults traveling and it was a bit tight. The bathroom is in the “basement” and the lighting for make up isn’t great and there are no plugs for doing your hair (blow dry or other heated tools). Made getting ready a bit of a challenge.

Its clean and extremely comfortable with a luxurious classic design. Staff are very friendly and professional. It is also very quit and safe during the night.

Location was fine: though not in the most charming of neighborhoods (lots of charm in Amsterdam), near to transit, good restaurants, and lovely canal path. Communication easy and well managed. False advertising: was no "kitchenette," rather just the basics (coffee and tea facilities, tiny fridge) that you would get in any rudimentary hotel room - except that there were not even mugs for the coffee and tea, we had to ask for those. Other missing basics: no waste bin in the bathroom, and in fact no facility for disposing of wet/damp waste of any kind (just a basket in the main space). No ventilation of any kind in the bathroom. Lastly, renovation now getting shabby and in need of repairs (see pictures). Seems like it used to be or could be nice - but right now it is way overpriced for what it is.

What a hidden gem! A beautiful farmhouse with lovely gardens and a great bar and restaurant. You would never expect it in the middle of a residential/commercial area. Close to 2 metro stations that can take you anywhere.

Unique, quiet setting with a very nice restaurant on the property. Because it is a restored farmhouse it has some low beams that you had to duck in a few areas.

A beautiful estate within walking distance to tram and metro. Comfortable beds, spacious and charming room. The free coffee was appreciated. The staff was great and helpful On cold days it was a bit chilly inside and it could be made more cozy with some soft lights

The property is beautiful! We loved our room. It has the perfect amount of space for us. It was bright, inviting, clean and a great place to rest. No complaints!

We stayed here as a family with 2 young children. Excellent location to travel right to main attractions from nearby Amstel station. Lidl and restaurants close by via a lovely river walk. Beds were comfy and Deene our host was super helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble! Only improvement would be to have more of a table to eat around. The stairs are quite steep so worth noting when booking. Also a couple more bins would be great, but all very minor tweaks.

The property is beautiful and the staff are very good. If you want to enjoy Amsterdam and not be right in the city centre this is the perfect location. The metro is a 10 minute walk away and it’s the perfect escape from the busy city with a Lidl just around the corner. There is a pub next the property which we didn’t go to, but there was no noise at all! There were no mugs for tea (turns out you use glasses instead). I actually like using a glass now! There was no milk, but the gentleman gave us some milk to put in the fridge!

Exceptional

The beautiful period features of the building, such as the original floor. The comfortable beds and the large bathroom. Could have been hand soap in the dispensers provided. Would have been nice to have two chairs in the first floor bedroom so as guests we could sit together there. The lighting system were not always responsive and difficult to use/turn off.

The property was lovely and spacious. The bath/shower room was amazing! Beds where comfy and it was in a really good location near the metro to head into the city

Lights were very hard to get to work and dim. Heating didn’t work well and room was cold. No towels in bathroom to wash/dry hands after using toilet. No microwave. Had to go in basement for shower or tub use. Narrow stairs.

Everything Nothing

Superb location for family with teenagers in a nice part of the city with great local restaurants , good vibe and close to the metro to take you into the heart of Amsterdam . Nice large bathroom , extremely comfy beds & large !! V quiet at night Host very accomodating … Nothing to dislike
