Coast Inn at Lake Hood
About Coast Inn at Lake Hood
Coast Inn at Lake Hood, is a short walk away to watch float planes take on and off from one of the busiest seaplane bases in the world. In the winter the frozen lake serves as a frozen runway for planes with skis. Befitting to its location the hotel is decorated in Alaska Bush Pilot memorabilia and historic photography that the Alaska Aviation Museum next door shares with them. Each guest room is carefully cared for by our veteran housekeeping team, most of which have been with us 5 years and some up to 20 years. Each room has everything you need like Keurig Coffee machines with locally owned Caffé D'arte Alaska coffee, to in-room microwave and mini-refrigerator. If you have forgotten something, our front desk probably has it. We keep a fresh supply of basic toiletries available for you. Dine-in at locally owned and operated for 30 plus years, Pipers Restaurant and Lounge, or order room service. We have monthly specials that coincide with the season, Alaskan local favorites, and traditional native food. In the summer the deck is open and overlooks Lake Hood, where you can watch the planes land and take off right in front of you. The hotel has everything you need; from the fitness center, laundry machines, complimentary wi-fi, over 6,000 square feet of meeting space, computer stations for printing boarding passes, and the most needed on-demand courtesy airport shuttle available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, no reservation required. If you need to park and fly out, our partner Alaska Park is next door ready to serve you, and is who handles our courtesy shuttle.

Reviews

We took their shuttle to the airport. Easy and efficient ride.
-
Having a restaurant at the hotel was nice. Workout room is great. No elevator sucks.
-
The room was dirty and the overnight staff were sullen.
-
A very nice, clean hotel. Great staff, room was spacious and clean and it is close to intl airport.
-
Property was old and rooms were not clean. The only thing that was it was close to the airport
-
Property is in a sketchy area of town with park at your own risk signage. The hotel itself is better than it appears from the outside, that being said, it is dated and can best be summed up as sufficient for an overnight near the airport, nothing more and nothing less.

We decided to stay at this hotel for it's location and proximity to the airport. Nice hotel and staff were friendly. We chose to stay in the Junior Suite and the room was spacious, bed was comfy and couch was comfortable. I just wish the bathroom had some face wipes and extra tissue box and toilet papers. The water pressure was great, But I think because of the high volume, it did take a little bit to drain. It was very quiet at night. But overall, I did like the hotel and the convenience of the restaurant in hotel and early and late they stayed open. I would stay there again.

This Hotel is an accident waiting to happen! There were extension cords used everywhere in the room. Up to 5 items plugged into 1 outlet. The Hotel is very run down. The restaurant had dead bugs on the windowsill. The furniture in the room had chips and scratches. The knob puller right off the drawer! Bedding was very low thread count and uncomfortable. However, the room was freshly painted and had new carpeting.

Close to the airport and convenient

No elevators and very long hallways made it challenging to get our large luggage into our room and floatplanes taking off at 8 am just outside our room were a bit noisy. On the positive side, rooms were very spacious, clean and comfy; staff was pleasant and helpful; onsite restaurant, bar, gym and laundry were a plus; and free shuttle to the airport for our 6 family members leaving at different times was terrific.

Location was good as well as courtesy shuttle & from desk employees. It could use some updating, bed/towels not the best.

We were placed on the second floor, which involves one flight of stairs. If you’re bringing a lot of luggage or traveling with someone with a disability, please note that the hotel does not have elevators, consider calling ahead to request a main-floor room. In the morning, we enjoyed watching bush planes take off and land from the hotel’s parking lot. It was fun.
-
Beautiful day while we were there and they weren't serving on the patio. Get it together - AK doesn't get a ton of those so take advantage.
-
View was nice. Since it’s next to the airplane lake, loud noise coming from outside in the morning.
-
The floor was damp and had soft spots, shower handle wasn't attached right and fell off.
-
Super easy back and forth to the airport. We were leaving on a cruise so we’re only there for about 10 hours.
-
This hotel was very convenient to the airport in the short drive to downtown Anchorage. The staff was very pleasant and the shuttle was waiting for me at the airport even though my arrival was at 3 AM. I had breakfast at the attached restaurant and it was very good.

Had to book this at the last minute due to plane cancellation. Was happy to have a place to stay, beds were comfy and AC worked great. The bar was open late and Mike the Bartender was great! The porter was very friendly and happy to tote our bags upstairs since there is no elevator. Front desk were mostly friendly. Outside and inside are worn and need desperate repairs, cleaning and a complete overhaul inside and out. There was lots of trash and even an old car battery sitting in the landscape in the front of the bldg. The shuttle was awful, waited a long time for the shuttle and when it arrived it was full. They said another shuttle was on the way but it never came. We ended up having to UBER. A definite 2/5 stars.
-
Hotel in a great location due to proximity to the airport. But, the hotel clearly shows its age. Only recommended for one night if flying out of anchorage.
-
Older hotel but it was clean.
