We’re only night but truly enjoyed our stay. We took the cooking class and was one of the best food we had during our whole trip! The house is a bit far but easily accessible by tuktuk and definitely worth it thanks to the lovely owners, they explained to us a lot about Sri Lanka and we had a nice chat after our cooking class. The house was spotless and the we had the whole upper floor for ourselves. The bathroom area was a bit humid since didn’t have proper vents

We had a wonderful stay at Sweet Home Tourist Rest, Cooking Classes & Tours. The comfort level was top-notch — everything was clean, spacious, and thoughtfully arranged. We were pleasantly surprised to find that our room came with its own living room, making it feel like a full apartment rather than just a guest room. For a very reasonable price, we had a completely private space to ourselves, which we really appreciated. The location is also ideal — the area is peaceful and quiet, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. A special thanks to Nilukshan, who organized some truly extraordinary tours for us, including the Wilpattu safari, and visits to Anuradhapura and Mihintale. Each one was memorable and perfectly arranged, giving us deep insights into the history and beauty of the region. We also took part in a cooking class conducted by Malsha, which was another highlight of our stay. The class was hands-on, fun, and absolutely delicious — we learned a lot and enjoyed every moment. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area — it’s more than just accommodation, it’s an experience!

Staying at Sweet Home Tourist Rest turned out to be one of the best decisions we made on our trip to Sri Lanka. It’s rare to find a place that offers both great value and a truly personal touch , but this one does exactly that. Instead of just a room, we had an entire private apartment, including a comfortable living room, which gave us so much space to relax. It was quiet, clean, and located in a peaceful part of town, making it easy to rest and recharge between our adventures. And considering the price, it felt like an absolute steal. What really made this stay unforgettable were the authentic experiences arranged by the hosts. Nilukshan helped us explore some of Sri Lanka’s most iconic sites with thoughtfully organized tours, the Wilpattu safari was stunning, and our visits to Anuradhapura and Mihintale gave us a deep appreciation for the country’s culture and history. Everything was well-timed, smooth, and stress-free. We also had the chance to join a Sri Lankan cooking class with Malsha, which ended up being one of our favorite memories. The class was fun, hands-on, and filled with flavor, we left not just with full stomachs, but with recipes and techniques we can take home with us. If you’re looking for more than just a place to sleep, if you want comfort, authenticity, and connection this is the place. Can’t recommend it highly enough!

What a wonderful homestay. Such a kind and welcoming family, peaceful home and great location in a lush green quiet part of town. Malsha and Nilu can't do enough to help you, and Malsha makes delicious breakfast and dinner. We loved meeting Nilu's brothers too, such lovely young men. You have the entire top floor which is spacious with a nice balcony, the bed is comfy, with aircon in the room and in the kitchen there is a fridge with cold water and cold beer. We couldn't have asked for any more. If you are heading to Anura, don't hesitate to book Sweet Home Tourist Rest. The only thing we thought that could be improved was the water situation. Most places have the large filter water dispensers to reduce plastic, but here it was just 1.5l bottles in the fridge (that you buy) and this quickly builds up to a lot of plastic waste.

The family was very friendly and the food was very good. The Anuradhapura tour and full day safari was very well organized, though a little bit pricey. The room was very clean and comfortable, and there were cold beers and water. Very good price for this much comfort! The location is a little bit further away from restaurants etc, so you need a tuktuk. But with Pickme app you could manage.

The homestay was just like being at home so comfortable shared lounge and kitchen bonus we were there all by ourselves perfect, the family were so lovely food was awesome. We rented a tuktuk and went into the local town and spent time with the locals it was amazing we were the only tourists around recommend. Don't hesitate to stay here the family also did our laundry

We stayed two nights at Nilu’s and Malsha’s homestay, and it was absolutely amazing. After three weeks of traveling in Sri Lanka, Anuradhapura was our final stop before heading back to Colombo, and both my partner and I agreed that these last two days were the highlight of our trip. Malsha was a fantastic host. She gave us excellent recommendations, prepared fresh and delicious breakfasts, and even did our laundry. We truly felt at home during our stay. The entire family is incredibly sweet and welcoming. They also arranged a guided tour of the ancient city with their friend Kamal, which turned out to be an unforgettable experience. Having done several guided tours during our trip, we can confidently say that this one was the best by far. The value for money here is unbeatable and the location was also exactly what we had in mind. The homestay is situated in a quiet residential area, which we loved, and it’s only a quick 5-minute tuk-tuk ride to the city center. Thank you, Nilu and especially thank you Malsha, for an incredible stay. We highly recommend this homestay to anyone visiting Anuradhapura! Nothing!

The food prepared by the owner was amazing. We requested vegan breakfast and dinner and both were exceptional. The food was so nice that we would have liked to have done a cooking class here, unfortunately we had no time. Big bed. Clean and well kept property. Very nice people.

We had an amazing stay! The place was spotless, and everything was perfectly clean and well-maintained. The host was incredibly kind, welcoming, and attentive, making us feel at home right away. The location was great, and the overall atmosphere was calm and relaxing. We highly recommend this place and would love to come back again! Nothing

Cosy apartment, great breakfast and very friendly family.

Lovely family. They were so helpful with everything, including travel advice during the rest of my trip. Had absolutely the best food in Sri Lanka here! Breakfast and dinner true highlights of the day. Room was totally fine, nothing to complain. Can recommend. It's remotely located, so you need tuk-tuk for everything. They have a tuk-tuk driver available for that.

We were kindly welcomed by the hosts, who were always eager to make our stay as nice as possible. Although Nilu was away for the first two days he was always available over the phone and arranged a great, informative tour around the ancient city and temples of Anuradhapura for us, which we enjoyed thoroughly. We had breakfast and dinner at the homestay whenever possible, which was really really tasty and freshly prepared. We definetely recommend to stay here and were a little sad that we didnt have enough time for the cooking lesson. Nothing

The kindness & breakfast. Nilukshan helped with everything. Nothing

Apartment style stay with Marsha making the best food I've eaten in Sri Lanka thus far. Delicious breakfasts and dinner. Also helped organise very good quality tour to Wilpattu and Minneriya, and good bikes for rent.

Nilukshan and his wife were the perfect hosts. He organized our travel to and from our stay, explained the buddism and Sri Lankan life in detail and his wife cooked perfect meals for us. We never met before such nice people.

We had a huge appartment for ourselves which was super clean and comfortable. The owners were so kind and always looked for our needs. Moreover if you want to enjoy local food, they will cook amazing breakfast and/or dinner for you. We really enjoyed their meals. You definitely need to try!!!! Won't regret. Everything was perfect.

Amazing food! Best I've had all trip in Sri Lanka (8days)

The people are very nice. Also the food is tasty. They also have the option to take some bikes to explore the ancient city. There were a few small mold spots.
