We LOVED our stay at Zerzevan Hotel! What a jewel in the city of Mardin. The staff was so helpful and friendly, the rooms were beautiful and very clean, the beds were comfortable, and the breakfast was delicious! We could only stay one night and wish we could stay much longer. If this place is available when you are visiting Mardin, book it! It is small so it is personal, quaint, and so lovely. The only difficulty I would anticipate is for those who have a hard time with stairs. There were several young men who quickly helped carry our heavy suitcases, so it was very nice. Although it was advertised, there is no airport shuttle.

Just a few steps above the Old Post Office, our room in this mansion hotel was large and well-decorated. All rooms open out to a terrace with a panoramic view of the city and Mardin plain. If it arrives in time, a good breakfast is available in the dining area above all the rooms. The area below the post office is a central minibus stop. The hotel itself is a bit of a walk up from the post office area, and you have to carry your bags up steep stairs to get to your room, so if you have heavy luggage, beware! It also has minimal staff, but you can best catch them around breakfast time, which can be a little late if the bread doesn't arrive on time.

The location is very good positioned. You can have very good views over the city and the Mesopotamian planes. They overbooked and didn't gave us in the 1st night the triple room that we have paid for, more than this they tried to say that is our fault that we didn't book correctly the room and if we don't like it we are free to go, very rude. After accepting the double room when I tried to turn on the light of the lamp near the bed, I got really bad electrocuted. They didn't believe me at the beginning, but after my strong requests for checking, they discovered inside the socket a free wire. VERY DANGEROUS. There are way better options in the area

Beautiful location and fantastic views - once you got there. Very helpful owner, who arranged for the airport bus to stop to pick up two 'foreigners' at a location at the bottom of the steps for return to airport. A large room with sofa and chairs as well as v comfortable large bed, opening onto a terrace overlooking the plains of Mesopotamia. Well positioned above the top end of the main street through Eski Mardin, We stayed for four nights during which nobody came to make the bed, do any cleaning, empty bins etc. Eventually we put full bins outside the door and asked for them to be emptied. Various things needed mending (eg sofa seams had split, bathroom door didn't close easily). Too many steps; we hadn't visited Mardin before and had not anticipated that the 'road' to the hotel was mainly steps, then plenty more steep steps once in the hotel, definitely not suitable for people with mobility issues. Breakfasts were disappointing; fine for one or two nights but insubstantial unless you wanted lots of bread and coffee was initially charged extra, then unavailable (machine was empty).
