The remote location was beautiful, in the jungle with lots of nature sounds and beauty, while maintaining modern comfort. Perfect location for relaxing and doing absolutely nothing other than lounging in one of the many sets of shaded chairs throughout the property. I stayed there for 4 nights/3.5 days, and appreciated the small size of the property, which has six cabanas in total. My friend and I never saw more than four other guests at a time. The staff was extremely kind, and English is a second language, so it helps to use a translation app if you are not proficient in Spanish. There are two dogs on the property as of 2/25/26, Clementina and Tabitha, who stole our hearts and helped us feel extra safe. The off-grid aspect means the cabins are powered by solar panels and recycled water (they have their own "wastewater treatment"). The indoor lighting is dim at night, and there are no bedside lamps, so if you plan to read, I recommend bringing a personal book light. The cabins are not completely closed off from the outside, meaning the wooden slats have no covering. We had no issues with any animals or bugs in our cabana, and have since discovered the property uses an eco-friendly deterrent, but they advise not keeping any food in your room. This also means no temperature control; however, there was one ceiling fan that did a good job of circulating air, and it actually got cold at night (late February stay). The bathroom is essentially outside - there is a rock wall that provides privacy and a thin slatted wood door connecting it to the cabana.

Everything! Stunning location with a very peaceful vibe. Everything is clean and so well decorated. The host was amazingly kind as well!

The shower and toilet is open for the nature, a lot of animals come closer. If you like natural place, this hotel is for you.

The staff was helpful The location is horrible, and the deck is extremelly dangerous.

We stayed for 3 nights in one of the direct laguna view cabañas and enjoyed tremendously everything: from the hosts, Bernie and Sam who were very welcoming and helpful, to the amazing views and setting, the confort of the rooms to the very nice and healthy food available throughout the day. We liked the place so much that we ended up staying there throughout our stay, just enjoying the beauty of the place. A true slow living experience! I can’t think of anything.

Amazing spot for a healthy, delicious breakfast! The all-natural menu was perfect for a detox, and the mango chile drink was absolutely out of this world. Super friendly hosts made the experience even better.

The lack of AC and road maintenance was a hassle.

Relaxing and eco friendly. Quiet and peaceful, lagoon view and access was amazing. The water looks so beautiful, and swimming in it was so refreshing. I read free toiletries, but conditioner is not included. So bring your own. Not a big deal, but just if you have curly hair like mine, I would suggest to bring your own. They provide natural bug repellent, natural sunblock, body lotion, hand soap, and after sun care Aloe, and honey shampoo( which smelled amazing, just wished they had the conditioner to pair it). I did ask the staff and they said they only provide the shampoo. I was surprised by their response only because most places provide both. But oh well, just mentioning it for anyone packing their toiletries.

The mystical and magical lagoon is the ideal setting to perch oneself in an elevated palapa. Surrounded by the singing of the birds and rustling of leaves, the gentle waters beckon you in. Very private and conducive to couples. Love the outdoor bathroom. We booked what we thought was the front cabin on the lake but it was actually a row back. Needs safer access to water - stairs are quite slippery.

It was designed well. Being by the water and having the view from the room. Healthy breakfast. Few things but not that important. I didn’t like to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night because I didn’t know what will except me. I mean it is in the middle of the jungle/ woods. I wish there was an automated sensor for lights in that area.

Wonderful place! “wifiorlake?” That is the question. Wi-Fi is available in common space located at the entrance . This area features a library, board games and plenty of space to relax and catch up with world.. the kitchen ,with a menu offering several fresh and tasty choices is also in this area…..breakfast , lunch or dinner… all delicious! The space in between… Six wonderfully designed and constructed A frames, offering everything necessary for the best off grid experience I have ever found. Woke with sunrise and followed the path down the wooden stairs to the breathtaking Lake Bacalar. easily spent the early day here … comfy chairs , floating decks , in water swing and hammock….. and free use kayaks.A mix of sun and shade makes it all perfect . The town of Bacalar is 15 minutes down the road , several options to tour the lake …. sail , pontoon and motorboats. Definitely visit Azul Cenote a few miles further down road . Returned to jungle early evening to be greeted with a sky full for gazing and shimmering moon lit water with sounds of nature providing the soundtrack for an experience that will not soon be forgotten. Thank you Sam , Bernie and all the wonderful staff as well as the two wonderful dogs Clementina and Tabitha! all good!

I could've done without the two huge dogs roaming around- they came into our room and ate my partner's snoring nose device, which was irreplaceable and led to some issues with sleeping soundly the next nights. Maybe consider a way to have the dogs on the property but train them well so they don't hover around plates of food when guests are trying to eat, or go in certain spaces where they aren't supposed to be.

it’s eco friendly, sustainable cozy and tranquil. we had the wrong expectations. we were looking for things like room service or maybe drinks by the lagoon. also, the garden below our room was the favorite spot for the dogs to go number two and I stepped on it once and when the breeze was heavy the smell was not too pleasant. other than that, great staff/view/eco design ps. I love dogs and their dogs are awesome ❤️
