The Staff Was Great

My experience was beyond what I expected. The hotel is the economy range price range but exceeds in service to make it a comfortable stay. Continental breakfast and coffee every morning. It served my needs perfectly. Great location for restaurants and inshape, planet fitness gyms.

The room I was in number 220 was full of bed bugs, I have dozens of welts on my body even a week later. I have reported this Truestay property to the Kern county department of health. Horrible!!!

I would recommend this hotel if you need a place for a night or two on a budget.

The room itself exceeded expectations—clean, well-kept, and genuinely relaxing. But what really stood out was the attention to detail throughout my stay. The complimentary breakfast wasn’t just your standard fare—it included fresh grilled waffles, muffins, and hot coffee that actually tasted fresh and satisfying. In fact, one of the front desk staff members kindly made my waffle for me, which perfectly captures the level of care and hospitality here. The location is another huge plus. Within walking distance, I found several fantastic dining options. I enjoyed fresh mahi mahi from a nearby restaurant and an incredible avocado and chicken protein bowl that easily rivaled meals I’ve had in much bigger cities. Every staff member I encountered was helpful, friendly, and genuinely invested in making my stay better—from check-in to check-out. It’s rare to find this kind of consistent service. And they have a POOL! Trust me—I’ve done the research. If you’re staying in Bakersfield, this is the place. You won’t regret it.

The mirror was filthy. But the rest of the room was clean.

Got a room tv not working was very dirty asked them to fix the tv they couldn’t come up to fix it moved us to another room tv didn’t work in the new room the toilet had waste in it pee candy wrapped left on the night stand water from sick was coming out cloudy and white afraid to take a shower was noisy people arguing at 3 am kids running around everywhere didn’t sleep well I would not recommend staying here Room was dirty

Food near by Smelled of roach spray..ac not working..had microwave but no way to plug in I went & bought a cord ...@ 12:30am my room was enter by another person with papers & key stating it was they room...I don't know if it was a inside job was I gonna get robbed or raped...front office gave me we have to look @ camera not good u have to activate room key..mine was deactivated I had to get neW 1..I WILL NEVER RETURN I HAVE BEEN A WYDHAM MEMBER FOR YEARS .I DIDN'T THINK THEY HAD THESE TYPE OF HOTELS...

The girl at the counter was friendly and went the extra mile to try and help with our issues. Ultimately we ended up having to accept a full refund and go find another hotel after 1:00 am which was not ideal as we lost the ability to utilize any online booking discount due to it being the next day technically…. There was no suitable place to park our U-Haul truck with the attached car tow dolly. They had 4 different large semi trucks already in their lot taking up huge amounts of regular spaces. We were told we could park next door in the Wendy’s parking lot which they could not give any guarantee of our vehicle not being towed or broken into. Or accept a full refund and have to find another hotel room at 1:00 am after driving the last 6 hours from the Bay Area.
